Topeak Babyseat II Bicycle Saddle with Non Disc Rack and Bright Yellow Padding

M&C: After having a Topeak rack for hauling cargo around on several biking trips, I was excited to get see that this combo also uses the MTX rail system. As such, you can swap out the seat and pannier bag with ease. After having a kid, this was a great addition that allowed us to bring my little one along. Just note that the seat cannot be used on the regular Topeak disc brake rack, you have to have one specially designed for the Babyseat II.

Alec Coan: This is a good seat for what it is. It is easy to use, my son is very comfortable in it, and I have no complaints about it's functionality, safety, or design. That said, I wish I had bought a Burley RM. I have three bikes and my wife has one. I've purchased multiple racks for this seat so I can switch it back and forth to different bikes. If I'd looked harder before buying this, I would have seen that Burley makes a seat for less money that is compatible with whatever rack you have on your bike already. I have a cargo rack graveyard in my garage bc I've replaced every one with a Topeak baby carrier rack.

Jon Paul: We splashed out for this seat after initially being recommended something cheaper by our local bike shop.

The two main reasons we opted for this seat were the suspension and the safety. Research suggested this was one of the safer seats out there. As for the suspension, we wanted to go on canal paths and gravel roads, etc. for which we felt a standard seat wouldn't be that comfy for the little one. Worked a charm.

The way it attaches is very good as well, simple to operate and secure.

Only negative I can think of is that it's only compatible with Topeak racks so you're you're locked in to buying those.

david1024: I've tried the cheaper ones and they only fit Department Store Bikes (DSBs).

This one fits my cyclocross bike, standard road bike, and our (somewhat older) Santana Tandem. I did not need the 'disc brake version' as my bikes have cantilever and caliper style brakes. THIS SEAT/RACK WILL CLEAR CANTILEVERED BRAKE AND CALIPER BRAKE BIKES. Probably linear pull brake bikes too. If you bought a DSB, it will probably fit that too. If you bought your bike at a LBS... it'll likely fit that too. (and the LBS may be able to install it for you too)

The rack requires the standard frame rack mounting provisions. Seatstay rack mount holes (or adapter) and either rack or fender (Ideally both) provisions in the rear dropout area of the frame. When using this, it sort of goes without saying that you'll always want to make sure your brakes are in good working order and that your wheels/tires can handle the extra weight of the rack/seat/child.

The DSB baby carriers require essentially a cruiser-style seatpost mount and geometry... this one fits real road bikes.... And it is easy to remove from the rack with no tools required. This was great for me because...
