David Blaker: If you care about nature and conservation and wilderness, you will find this book full of riches. Aldo Leopold was an acute observer and deep thinker (also a hunter), one of the founders of modern ecology. He writes clearly and with affection for his varied subjects, and with no overburden of science-speak. The final sections of the book develop an ethical framework that gives value to nature's beauty, integrity and stability.

Geordie Daneliuk: This is truly a timeless classic;intelligent and witty. I am saddened that we have not grasped more completely the wisdom of Aldo Leopold's thoughts.

Spike White: Sand County Almanac is a classic in the field of land conservation, getting in tune with nature. Short and extremely readable.
It's actually three very short books, a collection of his writings. So each chapter is a brief observation or missive.
First book is insights and observations. By the third book, he's laid the groundwork and he discusses his philosophy of conservation.
Excellent read.

Jessica E Gifford: This book is great to have out and peruse through. I meant to order the book in its entirety, but got this one instead.
If you are a conservationist, environmentalist, nature lover, etc...you will enjoy this many a day--rain or shine...Aldo always has something profound to share.

HYBS: This wonderful classic is required reading for residents of Mother Earth. In the endless quest for more profit, we are destroying the earth and it's become (unbelievably!) necessary to remind ourselves of the priceless gifts right under our feet. Profit can buy manmade Stuff, but the life giving sustenance and the matchless beauty of our lovely blue planet can't be bought and anything that can be bought is a pale and lifeless substitute for what we have at our finger (and toe-) tips.
Love your Mother!

JOHN GODFREY: A fine work in which Aldo Leopold personifies all the creatures & flora living in the forest. He knew even then, in the 1940's that their world was at risk, from us & they would lose. As a learning exercise it works & I recommend it espcially to high school students.
The division of the tape into 12 months serving as chapters is also effective as is continiuing story of the felling of a great tree. As they cut deeper we are taken back in time.
A good tape to relax with. Stewart Udalls narration is just right.
