Jill M. Nolan: "The Ego and the Id" is a seminal work in the field of psychoanalysis, written by Sigmund Freud in 1923. The book is a detailed exploration of the psyche and the nature of the human mind, and it provides a comprehensive understanding of the three components of the psyche: the ego, the id, and the superego.
One of the strengths of the book is Freud's writing style, which is both clear and precise. He presents complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand, and his writing is filled with insights and observations that provide a deeper understanding of the psyche.
Another strength of the book is its focus on the id, the most primitive and instinctual part of the psyche, and how it interacts with the ego and the superego, the rational and moral parts of the psyche. The book is also a great source of understanding the concept of the unconscious and how it influences human behavior and emotions.
Overall, "The Ego and the Id" is a valuable and informative book for anyone interested in psychoanalysis and the study of the human mind. It is a must-read for students of psychology and psychiatry, but it could be challenging for the general readership as the book is...

ASA: Love the Strachey translations; the content's quality is tried and true, the font is pleasing to the eye, and the books are super affordable. The binding is not the best, though. I don't know if this book would hold up well if it is treated roughly.

D. Jones: My first outside of college read. I actually used it to help with an essay and learned a lot more about the ego, super-ego(ego-ideal), and id. The ego-ideal and id are the powerhouses of the psyche, while the ego isn't as strong as I previously thought. The libido part I didn't fully understand, but overall it was enlightening.

Kristina: Don't think that Freud needs my recommendation, but this was a well put together book and I felt like leaving a little note. You need to consider the context of Freud's circumstances and time when he was writing this work to appreciate it truly. It might not be 100% relevant in 2023, but this volume is very well done with good commentary and introductions. So it gets 5 stars compared to other editions of Freud's works.
