Connor: Expose the underlying truth behind what your government is truly up to. The more you understand; the better you can avoid.

AT: Honestly the Prince is a must read. I don’t have much to say other than this can teach you things you might have never known otherwise. FYI it was called the Devils Book for a reason some things you can’t unlearn

Ivan NavarreteIvan Navarrete: The book arrived in good condition, it was delivered before the delivery time, although the book is small, the cover material is excellent, I am very satisfied with my purchase, it is a book that I wanted to have. 👸🏻

Nemo: The manufacturing quality was great. The book is fabric hardcover, and has a nice integrated ribbon bookmark which is a feature I wish more hardcovers had. I did not have the problem that others have complained of with the sticker staining the cover so that has either been resolved, or I got lucky. The only thing that detracts from this book at all is that the book is small, and thus the print is kind of tiny. This means that unless you have great vision you will need either your glasses or magnifiers to read it. I'm not going to comment on the content of the book because if you are buying it, I would bet you have read it before and wanted a good copy to have around to be able to refer to. I will say the translation struck me as more modern than versions I read in my youth, which is a welcome change in my view.

banky: The book is pocket friendly, with a hard cover and an easy to read font with its own bookmark. And as for the content; Machiavellian strategies for how to gain power and keep it, drawing inspiration from his era and those prior, were concise. This translation of the original writing is a masterpiece!

Tony W.: The Prince is a classic text so I'm not going to talk about its contents - there's honestly no point when academic and informal resources and discussions on the text are easily accessible.

In terms of the print copy though, it's a very nice, compact hard-cover book - the print quality is excellent, the paper is sturdy, and the ribbon marker is a nice yellow that complements the cover styling well. For a book that's only slightly longer than one of my pencils and fits in my coat pocket, the font is a pretty decent size and the typesetting is well done - the pages have a reasonable margin that keeps the pages filled, yet not over-filled, so it doesn't feel overwhelming to read like many other compact books I've seen over the years.

I for one really like this edition. If you're looking for a quality hardcover edition that's travel-sized, this is a great choice.

Throda tzen: Many translations actually aren’t, they are interpretations according to the views of the author and many are thus almost novels. This is a very good translation of archaic Italian [a language most Italians can’t even read –much like Chaucer is to English]. Originally written as ‘On Principalities’, this was intended as a gift that was meant to ingratiate Niccolo with the dominate family [whoever they ended up being, for its recipient was not the original it was intended for].
The first 38 pages are a useful authors introduction, but it is the 16 pages of the Translators note that are of most benefit. Both explain how Machiavelli has been much maligned and misinterpreted in the past –I agree. Most conceptions of Machiavelli stem from ‘anti-Catholic’ sentiment as in Gentillet’ ‘Discours contre Machiavel’ and the numerous renaissance plays that were becoming popular entertainment. The translator tries to get an understanding of the period and attempts to translate words according to their ‘olde worlde’ meaning; rather than their modern usage.
Machiavelli’ uses large amounts of punctuation and a fractured writing style that modern writers often...
