Jody T. Long: Terry Mixon is a Grand Master of military science fiction! I have read many of his series and each one is better than the last. Mixon’s use of military knowledge and history is prevalent in his story telling. I look forward to reading many more of these stories. Kudos!

Kindle Customer: Love this new series, enjoyed the two different cultures going from one to the other and then working together, looking forward to the next in the series.

Jay A. Aulds: I"ve been a huge fan of the Empire of Bones saga and just love how JThe admiral and Princess from that serie managed to kick some AI buttts.
But in this story, it takes places before the Fall and explains more about a certain character from the other serie known as Andrea 124 who happens to be a Singularity ruling clan. Who fell into a certain MCO on the run.

Terry Mixon did a fantastic job on writing from an adult and child POVs in character buildups. Ima keep reading the next installment to find out what's in store for them.

Beachbum: The author has managed to write the book in such a way, that's he backstory/groundwork has been laid perfectly, but at the same time make the story itself interesting and fast paced
Characters have been well thought and the conflict between the 2 powers explained well
The possibilities of where this series could go are endless, although I suspect the most obvious one is where the author plans to go.
2nd book in the series already bought

Robert Shuler: I found the first third or so to be the most compelling. Rather than a slow start as claimed by some, I found the middle and end to be slow. Things dropped into conventionality once 124 "dropped out" of the creche. Literally falling into the hands of the enemy.

After that it becomes conventional military science fiction with a rather ordinary supergirl heroine. Uh, duh, been there read that about a hundred times lately. Nothing unusual about the way its done here except for the first third. And, um, well when she uses her teacher's codes, that's pretty good.

The next novel in the series? Forget it. Utterly conventional. Read this one and quit.

Patrick: An immersive and suspenseful story line with brilliant character development that made this one of those books that you Make time for where you Should have been doing other things!
My only regret, not being able to dive right in to book two.

Another five star read in any universe from the desk of Mr Mixon.

moreld: Terry Mixon is one of those rare authors that finds a way to be original and imaginative in genre that has been around since Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein two hundred years ago in 1818. His latest, 'Spoils of War' is clear proof of that. Yes, we have Empire Marines; but the twist here is that these men and women are no longer officially marines, having given that up for the greater good to become little more than pirates. They may have given up the title of Marine, but every single one of them remain one in their souls. Plenty of action, plenty of what it means to be a young child in a world of genetic modified humans in training to become an elite member in that society. And the consequences for all when those worlds collide. Exceptional book, highly recommend and am definitely looking forward to the next book.

Catherine Mackay: I thoroughly enjoyed the Spoils of War which is set several hundred years before the Empire of the Bones series. The characters were great and I liked the way Mixon contrasted the differences between the two human societies - one dystopian (The Singularity) and the other where there is more freedom (The Empire of Man).
One Twenty-Four is a genetic clone of the Andrea Line - one of the ruling lines of the Singularity. She has been trained from birth to be compliant, follow the rules and not deviate from the norm. Unfortunately (or fortunately), One Twenty-Four is not so normal and allows her curiosity to get the better of her - dangerous in a society of conformity. Her life collides with former Imperial Marine, Grace Tolliver and she finds not everything she has been taught about the Empire is correct.
Spoils of War, overall, was an enjoyable mix of action and exploration of how different human societies interact with each other. As well as the dangers of not understanding different ideologies and cultures or the impact of the latter in shaping human ideas. Looking forward to the next book :)

Chris: Having received this book as an advanced copy before release, I have now bought it as well.

Settled in the same universe as his "Empire of Bones" series, it is by no means necessary that you have pre-read that series. You will love it anyway.
With this book Terry is fleshing out that shared universe and dives right into action from the start.
It is very well written and you will likely not want to put it down until you are finished with it.
