Arthur: I love the history behind this book. It feels like it may be more important than ever before. Additionally it's a fantastically hilarious read. I try to keep at least a few copies on hand so I can give them out to friends (along with an abbreviated version of the book and author's history).

Roman Livingston: I bought this over a year ago for my sister as a gag gift to my sister since I buy her religious books of every known religious txt I can find. And this last Hurricane season in Florida my sister lost EVERYTHING besides one thing. It wasn’t the Bible, or even the Satanic Bible, wasn’t the Quran, not even Pagan books, wasn’t the Veda’s or even obscure religious text. At end of the day literally the only thing my sister had that survived the Hurricane is this book! Yeah you would think her cast iron skillet in the stove would survive but nope disappeared, maybe a blanket nope, maybe this or that was left that could be cleaned up nope. Just this book and ontop of it all it didn’t just survive it was left untouched 100%. It was on a bookshelf alongside other religious text but somehow her copy was left untouched while all the others where missing or so damaged it had to be thrown out. If you ask me there must be something going on with this book.

Austin Hogan: 3/5 stars, The Gospel of the FSM was alright, I think it was a bit too edgy for my taste. Seems like everyone has to have an edgy opinion of everything these days. I liked most of it, up until the sterilization joke near the end. For a person who dislikes a-holes, Bobby Henderson certainly sounded like one at several spots during the FSM Gospel. To really make a point, you should try to stay in comedy mode, baring teeth and getting angry over other beliefs, is just as sloppy as the people you are criticizing. I feel like highly intelligent people do not always hold these views of disgust towards religious folks. Poking fun at religions and philosophies is always a good time, but to actually go out of your way to threaten a group of people for those beliefs, is very trashy I think.
I wanted to be a Pastafarian until I read your book. I suppose I have my own interpretation of the religion though, so I will.
3/5 stars, funny, yet slightly disappointing.

Rein: Here you are once more, on the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster page on Amazon. No... no, don't leave yet. Stay awhile -- relax a bit, have some tea. Chamomile perhaps? It was always a favorite of mine, back in the old days in the Romanian countryside, where I grew to manhood alongside Scruffles, my pet bear. Scruffles was a gentle bear for the most part, but he was a deeply troubled soul. I could not forsee what terrible things he would do to that family. Sometimes I think back on it and wonder what more I could have done for him; wonder if there were any signs that I missed, or if I had ever been unkind to him in any way...
Oh, but I forget myself again. I apologize. Let me stoke the fire one moment.... there... now where were we? Oh yes, the book. Yes, here you are once more, perhaps after a few days, or maybe even months. You've heard whispers about it, you've seen the reviews, and perhaps you even watched a friend read it. You saw it listed once, you clicked on it -- you debated on whether or not you should dip into the money you were saving for your wife's anniversary dinner. Or perhaps you scoffed, your nose held high, unwilling to part with your hard earned...

Magic Lemur: Having heard so many interesting things about the FSM (e.g. 'Unintelligent Design', Global warming is caused by a lack of pirates, etc) I got this book expecting more of the same - a witty and razor sharp skewering of Creationism & the more tawdry aspects of belief...
The good news is that this book has plenty more bits of material which are laugh-out-loud funny. The way the Great Prophet mimics faulty Creationist logic is hilarious (e.g. all the gr8 supporters of evolution (Carl Sagan etc) are dead - i.e. invalid!). Furthermore, the Photoshopped History, the questions section and the Holy Noodle (creation of the world) are all genuinely amusing and useful for the budding Pastafarian.
Unfortunately, the bad news is that there is no coherence or discipline to the thoughts but, rather, it is a random patchwork of ideas and material fudged together. OK, all comedy needs to free-flow and leap from one great joke to the next, but this book seems to lose its muse halfway through and then just becomes like wading through appendices... Structure would also be useful for reference as I found the jokes I really liked were hard to find again without structure, or 'signpost'...
