Maxwell EdisonMaxwell Edison: After reading Contagious, I felt the need to buy Invisible Influence and The Catalyst. I love Jonah Bergers writing style. Very easy read. Each topic is broken down by chapters and each chapter is full of real world studies and examples. I have recommended all three of these books to many people now. Whether you work in advertising/marketing, own a business, or just have a genuine interest in the human psyche...these books are absolutely worth owning. Stop reading my review already and buy it. As a matter of fact, order multiples, so you can give some away. After I read them I immediately went back and bought more so I can keep copies to give to people. That's how good they are.

Corey Buller: Synopsis: In Jonah Berger’s next foray into how ideas catch on, Catalyst outlines the psychology behind why people AREN’T persuaded and what techniques and tools one can use to overcome barriers and persuade people to your thinking.
The book dives into 5 barriers to persuading someone and ways to overcome those barriers:
Reactance - people don’t want to be told what to do
Endowment - people have difficulty letting go of what they know
Distance - people will only believe new ideas that are close to their
Uncertainty - people are less likely to accept something new if they are uncertain of the outcome
Corroborating evidence - people need to see evidence of success from a variety of sources they trust (the entire book is a great illustration of this area since Berger provides a variety of examples of these areas coming to life and how the techniques he calls out helped to overcome each companies issue).
What the book did well: the book has a great format. Berger explains the psychological reasoning behind each barrier, the general strategy to overcome that barrier and then the tools & techniques that could be used to execute the strategy....

Chris Davidson: I haven't finished this book yet, but even so I'm very happy to give it a top rating. It's very well laid out, which makes it very accessible. I love the 'reduce' model the author employs - easy to remember. I also like the fact that there is a case study at the end of each chapter. I'm finding that it's giving me some great ideas for how to market a new product I'm developing. Well worth it.

cesar carneiro penna: Berger faz uma curadoria de várias descobertas da psicologia social, marketing, economia comportamental e estrutura seu livro em capítulos, cada qual com um princípio e várias técnicas de difusão de ideias.
A leitura começa quente e perde o ritmo. Gostei muito dos primeiros capítulos e gosto muito da capacidade de síntese e simplificação do autor. não há nada espetacular aqui, mas o conteúdo é bem prático e de fácil leitura.
Seguem alguns pontos que me chamaram a atenção:
Comece...

Gaurav Tiwari: If your daily struggles involve getting responses from people, this book is a must. If your struggle involves getting responses on your social media posts, this book is a must. If your struggle involves creating effective communication without spending too much money, this book is a must. I have read both the earlier books by Jonah Berger & was wondering if this book offers fresh ideas. I was surprised by the richness of the content, simplicity of writing and effectiveness of the suggestions. After finishing the book, we implemented the suggestions at our start-up with encouraging initial results. I ran a start-up primarily relying on the effectiveness of digital media to drive sales. I enthusiastically recommend this book.

Matt: I struggled with what rating to give this book. At times, I was tempted to give 2 stars; at others, I thought about giving 4 stars. Here’s why I finally decided on 3:
As for the content itself, it covers the fundamentals and does so fairly well. If you want an overview of change management then I think this is probably a decent place to start. In fact, the reason I decided to give this book 3 stars instead of 2 is because the REDUCE acronym is quite useful; additionally, there were some genuinely useful questions included in the Appendix for how to apply the framework.
Overall, however, the book felt like it was a good article that got word-smithed into book length. I don’t mean for that to sound so critical, but that’s the thought I kept having throughout the book. Perhaps part of the problem is that, in my opinion, there are far more content-rich books on the topic already. For example, if you’ve read Influence or Pre-Suasion by Cialdini, then you probably already know 95%+ of the content in this book.
Additionally, I felt the approach taken to change management was simply too surface-level to be useful in disparate situations. If you’re interested...
