Linda M.: I love this book. A good variety of recipes and easy to follow instructions. The only reason for the 4 star is because the ingredients are given in metric weights.

Jennifer Leiter: This is a great book for beginners! The author has her recipes in order of easiest to most complex, with easy to follow instructions and reasons why something may have gone wrong. I am working my way through her breads and every bread has been fantastic, with lots of praise from my family. Highly recommend!

Stanley: I now have a library of baking books but I keep going back to this one to get realigned with the basics. This is the book that taught me a lot and got me baking great bread.

hoodwink: I have been baking bread occasionally for many years but felt the need to brush up on some new ideas and recipes so why not start again from the beginning? This book measures weights in grams which is new to me, however, my kitchen scale measures in grams as well as pounds so it will be a new adventure. The book provides many Q & A's which I found very helpful.

Me encanta.

StephanieStephanie: This book is great. Like, really great. I was afraid to try baking bread for a long time, but the more I looked at the ingredients lists at the grocery store, the more I realized I would have to try it. The current prices of the better breads are what finally pushed to me to do it. I bought this book and it's been a blessing. The author is all about bread. She owns a baking shop, and gives a little backstory about getting there in the beginning of her book. The rest of the text is things you'll need, common mistakes to avoid, and recipe after recipe in order of increasing difficulty. You start out with the most basic (but delicious) bread that doesn't even involve kneading (more of a fold), and you continue to work your way out to fancy enriched sourdough. There's one for pizza dough I use nearly weekly, and it's towards the beginning of your bread baking journey. There's also an amazing brioche, and most of the recipes can be modified to make buns instead of a loaf. If you've never made bread, but really want to take control of what you and your family eat (and save a lot of money) get yourself this book.

Vladimir Rakic: Bread baking is my new COVID skill and so far I have mostly followed YouTube videos and made some simple bread loafs. Lot of the time, online videos don't really go into much detail as to 'why' things are done in a certain way and especially what to do if the bread loaf ends up looking like a prop from a science fiction movie.
Bonnie provides simple, but detailed instructions for novice bread bakers. Everything is measured, including the ambient temperature in the process of preparation. In the same chapter I learned the exact water temperature required before preparing the dough. Each recipe has step by step instructions, photos are provided and there is a section in the end with "Common problems and FAQ".
The chapters in the book are structured for progression from easiest bread loaf to make up until the sourdough which requires the most skill at this level. There are plenty of recipes for different breads, including pizza dough that will keep me going for some time.
The reason this book appealed to me from many others is that Bonnie is self-thought baker who has been perfecting her art since 2010. She started baking for her own family first, than friends...
