The Fox: Pros: cast iron, well built, 1/2 hp, pumps water at a fast rate!! Cons: sorry but the float switch is tempermental. First one doa, called customer service, which were great people. Sent me a replacement, fine this was doa. Tryed hard to make it work, loved the design but it ain't going to happen. Just can't trust something that may fail me 2 oclock in the morning with a fooded basement. Nice concept, but quality may not be there. Replaced it with a universal therered float. Works fine on Mr Watchmen

johnd01: The pump showed up on my doorstep in 2 days in perfect condition. It was a perfect drop-in replacement for the discontinued PW1050. No need to change any of the existing PVC pipes.

Hot Tip: Buy a new threaded 1-12" PVC adapter with a check valve. I could not get the old on off the old pump no matter how hard I tried. I found one for less than $20 at L**es, but they also may sell them here on Amazon.

Book GluttonBook Glutton: We have a number of downspouts from our large roof that empty into a French Drain system. The system can no longer handle some of the extremely heavy rain we’ve been having. The result is that the excess water backs up through an old unused stairwell drain and then seeps under the door and floods the basement. We submerged one of these in the stairwell area. It now catches the water before it becomes a problem. It’s powerful enough and efficient enough to do the job. The 1/2 HP strength and the 3,500-4,400 GPH capacity more than suffices for our needs. A very reasonably priced solution. Beats digging up the French Drains!

TSean: It was very to install. It works extremely well - I highly recommend this pump. I wish it was easier to have battery back up without having second pump - I don’t have the room for second pump. Other wise it’s great product

Marielle Roche-Foster: I was able to install this myself thanks to the outstanding customer service and intuitively designed pump. It actually was a pleasure, quite satisfying, to do this install on my own. An important lesson I’ve learned through this process is that you must be aware of your sump pit diameter and make sure that the pump you order is appropriate for that diameter. My particular pit is on the smaller side, with an 11 inch diameter. This pump is perfect — designed to work in narrower pits — because the discharge is directly from the top, not off to the side. This results in less space taken up. Also, the float is in this unique protective cage. You’ll appreciate this feature more if you take a look at the details of the product, and the function of each. Overall, I highly recommend doing business with the Basement Watchdog folks.
