Kat: Many people hate prunes. I grew up being forced to drink prune juice once in awhile, you all know why. So it was odd that one day, in adulthood, I found myself sampling a prune without being forced to.
OH, my. They are delicious and cooked with a pork loin, just amazing.
I’ve been forced to purchase other brands than Sunsweet given the market availability and hands down, Sunsweet products are the most delicious, have the least frequency of pit fragments, are the most delicate in texture……of any other brand. I eat 4 prunes a day. Maybe 2, maybe 5. But let’s call it 4. I know my prunes.
If you find ones that have orange essence in them, treat yourself. It’s a delightful treat. And, in the evening when I’m wanting a little sweet treat, two or three prunes are not without calories, but they are full of nutrients and healthy in moderation. (Yes, we’re to eat fresh fruits, but in January, I will not buy fresh plums from another continent!)
