Rachel Heal:
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Haven't used it much during the heat and now I can't return it
Very disappointed

Lynn Dion: This is the one you had for years in your office at work that never gave out. I recommend it completely. Heats up fast, cleans easily. I have used mine for water mostly, but I have heated canned soup in it and with prompt cleaning it came through fine. A bit large for travel, but it sure would be handy for a business trip, and probably save money with quick heatable meals and hot drinks. Recommended.

MOJO: Was so shocked that the maker Sunbeam would turn out such crap, stopped working in a couple of months, was terrible.m

Northern Sky: Boiling time is 1.5 to 2 minutes. To extend the life of the pot, use the power adapter to turn it off when the water is warm to your liking and only boil water (not for cooking bagged noddle!). For more than 20 years of using these pots, the first one stopped working after 15 years and the second one is still going.

Laura Marchildon: I specifically purchased this Sunbeam Hot Pot for my daughter in college. She uses it all the time for various things, from boiling noodles, heating soups and sauces, to just boiling water for her tea or hot chocolate. The ONLY disadvantage (and this being with the many other I researched) is that it does not have an "off" switch, so MUST be unplugged while not in use. I drilled that in her head before she left with it. I chose this Sunbeam as I knew the company as with many others I never heard of them. She says it works great and is very happy with it. I would have given it a "5 Star" rating if it had the "off" switch.

Lyric:
I am now on my third Sunbeam Electric Hot Pot and have loved all of them. This is a simple product that I use to heat water for tea or instant coffee. It has other uses but I've only used it to heat water.
BTW -- I've only replaced my prior two pots due to (1) I accidentally forgot to unplug one of the pots and all of the water boiled out and I ruined the pot and (2) we had heavily chlorinated water which discolored my first pot so badly that I felt it was best to replace it. Now I use bottled water - problem solved.
This is an easy to operate, inexpensive, very functional product.

Update:
Having used my at work Sunbeam Hot pot a few times to heat food, I noticed the paint over the heating element showing signs of damage.
Lesson 1: Do Not use for cooking, only use for heating water.
I have used this item about 10x a week and the paint is beginning to flake off. It is time to replace. Roughly 700 uses is not bad for a $20 item. So it is on the list as a replacement for itself, but I am going to consider spending a few more bucks.
My first Sunbeam electric hot pot has been in service at least once usually twice a day for about 10 days. I am happy enough with its performance that I just bought a second. I have one at work and one at home. I find they are slightly faster than the microwave at boiling water for tea or coffee and they use less electricity. While I have not yet tested it I believe it will quickly heat lunch noodles or simple soups.
To me this is a slightly more elaborate immersion heater. The rules for them apply: do not leave unattended and do not leave plugged in.
Pros
Simple fast electrically efficient
The base which contains the heating element remains cool
It is easy to fill to...

GL:
I just boiled some water in it for a cup of tea. The steam leaked out from the back of the lid and
burned my hand. I bought this product several weeks ago. From the beginning, the lid was almost
impossible to open, and now it doesn't seal properly either, so the steam has begun to seep out all
around the lid. Now blisters are popping out where I got burned!
The pros are that it heats the water very quickly and is lightweight.
Previously I had a hot pot manufactured by GE. It was wonderful and lasted for decades, but I can't
find a new one like it anywhere.
