I checked the reviews before I decided to buy. I found that if, for the most part, the reviews of a product are ok and it's only a couple of really bad reviews, then it's worth taking the chance. But still, even with mostly good reviews until you open the box and try it out you wonder if it is what you want.
In this case this saw turned out to be exactly what I wanted.
I bought it last fall to deal with several large trees that blew down during a hurricane. Trees over 20 inches in diameter at base.
It cuts as fast and as strong as a gas saw without the hassle of cranking and starting a saw (especially one that has been sitting too long and that has a dry carburetor with a hardened filter screen). Plus, it eliminates the smoke and the fumes which on occasion have been a real pain when the saw is not running well and the gas is not mixed well or has been sitting too long.
When I was young, I didn't mind the weight of a saw, or the pull cord or the fumes. But I am older now and I have had a few surgeries on my right side and on my lung and I appreciate having a lighter electric saw.
I hadn't used it for several months and then I found another area to...

Gary55: Have used gas chainsaws for camp work and never thought electric would be powerful enough to cut firewood. Wrong. Should have switched to electric like this SunJoe years ago . Cleaner, quieter and can buck firewood into lengths for electric splitter. Keep the gas chainsaw for going into bush but for camp and home property work, this under $100 saw with 2 year warranty works fine

qualsite: This is my second one of these, since after over four years the first one finally burned up the motor, but only after lots of heavy use, so not a big surprise, and still a very good cost per year. We heat with wood, so cut lots of wood on the property and limbing lots of big branches and cutting up logs in the log pile for splitting. This electric saw handles about 90% of my use, and is so much easier and cheaper to use than my Husky gas saw, and I don't have to worry about worthless CA gas destroying my electric saw, which is run from my solar panels. Even with the attached cord, this saw is safer and easier to use up at the top of a manlift or ladder in the trees. And since the chain stops immediately when you let go of the trigger, you don't have to worry about a still spinning chain when you set the saw down while cutting up logs or limbing. The saw is well built, lightweight and well balanced, but rugged. I did replace the low kickback homeowners chain with a good and better cutting Oregon chain. The weakest part is the bar tightener, which is a bit weak for the longer bar, particularly since it only uses a single clamping nut. I also remove the plastic...

Keunsang:
Plug and play.
It is very quick and easy and quite.
Not too much power.
There's one thing, I hate this chainsaw.
If someone buy this one, you have to buy chainsaw oil from hardware store.
The oil is not included.
However it is good product.

HVR: Yes, the title says 18" but the description says 16" so it wasn't a surprise. We are using this to cut piles of branches, mostly 8" diameter and under, into firewood size. Yesterday also did several 10-12" diameter logs without any problem. The saw is powerful enough to handle the larger size logs. The one negative comment is that the bumper spikes are plastic and more like wedges than spikes. Still provides traction to pivot the cut on a larger log, but normal metal spikes would have been better. I like that as soon as you release the trigger, the chain brakes.

I have to admit - this saw is way beyond anything I expected from an electric chainsaw. It actually cuts faster and more aggressively than any other chain saws I have had so far,and new to me is the automatic chain brake that stops the chain the instant the trigger is released, making it a lot safer to use.
The only problem I have at this point is that a small screw was missing from the housing in the vicinity of the bottom front of the rear handle - I am working on getting one of those screws from the company but have not heard back from them yet (I sent an email request to them through their home page online - but it was on friday and this is sunday during the holiday season to boot, so that is not unusual).
* Part received, it's all good! You can't fault SUNJOE's customer support, they're fantastic

Barry E Wadsworth: Most of the trees I want to cut are near the woods and can fall away into the bush, so the cord makes no difference. It’s light and works well for medium use. So far it’s worked better than I thought it would for the price.
