Stop Nail Biting with NIXXIT: An Effective Treatment for Adults

JennaLyb: I bought this to determine my three year old from biting her nails. It does go on easily, and she Barry willingly let me put it on. It also does have a gross taste which helps deter them. But it does not last on the nails long at all. So I would more so go for something that has a longer lasting ability.

Stephanel S. Hall - Pierre: This will definitely detour you from putting the finger in your mouth - yuck!!! The first time using it I accidentally got some on my finger and I couldn’t stop wrenching when I tasted it. It washed away entire by the second hand wash.

Amazon Customer: I ordered this because my daughter chews the skin off of her fingers and it completely stopped the issue last year. Well, I lost the only tube I had so I had to buy a new one. I bought the last one for around $11, and this one for $16. The price increases, the tube is SMALLER and it takes half a dozen spins to get the product out at all and then all of the sudden the flood gates open and it’s dripping. I’m not satisfied with this product at all. I gave it three stars because the solution itself does deter the fingers in the mouth but this change in product gets no stars for me.

Laura Moldovan: I tried this before putting it on my 2.5 year old. It was awful. I had to brush my teeth after, such an awful taste! However, it did not deter my son from sucking his thumb. It easily wipes off if your child won’t let it dry which doesn’t take more than a minute but that’s a long time to wait if they don’t want it on. My son mostly sucks his thumb when it’s time to sleep…he continues to with this on.

Logan G: In the never ending quest to stop biting my nails these Nixxit pens are a good tool to have in the toolbox but are by no means the only thing you should use. I keep one in my car and one at my desk at work for when those sudden urges come on. The pen form factor is much more discreet to keep on my desk as a man so there’s a lot fewer questions than when I kept a bottle of no-bite nail polish on my desk. It’s easy to use and dries pretty quickly but I find the flavor only lasts an hour or so so if I’m having a particularly stressful day and forgot to use nail polish then multiple applications are necessary. The pen has lasted longer than I expected though and if I don’t kick the habit by the time it’s empty I’ll be purchasing these again.

mack: I have been biting my nails ever since I was a little girl. As I got older, I realized just how bad it was! But for some reason, I would bite and not even realize it! This was now a bad habit! I used to go to the nail salon and have them put on acrylics which not only stopped me from biting, but it looked great and professional I realized that it would break bank my bank having to go every two weeks. Once they would grow out and fall off, before I could make an appointment, I would bite them off again...I finally told myself that this has to end! I have tried a polish that made my nails look glossy, which I liked, and when I would bite, there was a flavor, but it wasn't bad enough for me to stop. Finally, I found this product! It was the first one that popped up when I searched, and it had the best reviews, so I had to try it! The first day I applied, I forgot later that day I had it on, and I went to bite, and that taste ENDED it for me! I had the worst taste in my mouth that lasted a while even after drinking water, and at that moment, I knew I did not want to have that taste again! So I continued to apply day and night every day and made sure I was consistent....

Steph: This product has helped us to get our daughter (3 years old) to stop sucking her thumb. She would only suck it at night or when she was really tired.. I snuck in after she fell asleep for 3 nights and out it on and I haven't seen her suck her thumb again. She woke up one night saying she had a really bad taste in her mouth and we told her she sucked her thumb so much and it went bad 😅

Kristen: I bought this because I was trying to stop my 8yo from biting her nails. It’s a relatively new habit that I first tried to stop with fidget toys and saying to stop when I saw it…that didn’t work so I looked for this. The reviews seemed promising so I ordered it.

My daughter isn’t excessively sensitive, but when I put this on and she reached for her mouth…she cried. And not just a whine, my poor girl ran to her room, curled up in a ball and was SOBBING. My heart…there’s just no words. As a Mom, I’m filled with guilt - it was so heartbreaking to watch. 2 glasses of OJ later, my daughter was still so upset.

I never, ever meant to cause her harm…but if you would’ve witnessed the absolute sadness from her cry, you’d feel guilt, too. It was like trauma.

I’m full of remorse for buying this product. I wish I could rewind and never have put it on. I feel so, so guilty. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I’m going to put it on my finger tomorrow just so I know, firsthand, what I put her through.

Bottom line: don’t. Whatever your kid is going through, this product is NOT worth it. And I never leave reviews.
