the image quality is pretty good not as good as i hoped for but does give better results than cheaper binoculars we have from Tasco.
these have a one-time adjustment to focus them then you can just leave the focus alone it is focused on anything over 50 feet or so closer than that doesn't really work. you can balance each eye but then if different people use it they might have to readjust.
we have not gotten them wet so not sure if they are watertight, they have a soft padded case and Lense caps that stay on binoculars, so you don't lose them.

James Gorham: Great price on Black Friday sale. Very heavy, good grip, easy focus, once set then autofocus. Crystal clear vision, deckies love them. Would recommend and buy again.

P.K. Frary: I've only owned two binoculars prior to the Steiner Marine: Nikon 10x25 and Sears 7x50. Perhaps not a fair comparison, but the Steiner dances circles around the other binoculars in terms of image quality: sharp from center to the periphery, bright and highly flare resistant. Plus, the 50mm objective and low magnification are ideal for twilight views and the night sky. With only 7X—higher power is challenging to hold—I have no problem holding these binoculars steady, and the rubber coating makes for a sure grip. It doesn't need to be manually focused most of the time, but when it does, I found the eyepiece adjuster harder to focus than the center wheel on the Nikon and Sears binoculars. The Steiner appears rugged and seems to endure rain and splashes without ill effect. My only minor gripe is the cheap case. Why insult a fine optical instrument with a flimsy case?

Parvez: Very well built and excellent quality. The auto focusing is the best asset for me as it leaves the hands free and not required for focusing. I am an amateur photographer and a judge and recently doing bird photography… the Steiner Marine is in my kit when I go on outings.

Norman Lapierre: Was initially looking for 10 x 50 binoculars and happened upon this deal from Amazon. Steiner quality binos that were listed as "used, very good condition" with an appreciable reduction in price. They should have been listed as "used, like new". Not a blemish on them, the box had been opened then re-sealed by Amazon. Although they are 7 x 50, this will more than fulfill my needs. These binoculars should last a lifetime. They are solidly built and the glass is crystal clear.

Michael R. Nofi: These binoculars are near perfect. Optical aberrations are well controlled with excellent color correction, including lack of lateral color at the edge of the field of view, minimal glare, high contrast, image sharpness to the edge of the field of view, and a flat, undistorted field of view that is most appreciated when panning. The collimation is spot on, so there is no eye-strain. Seven by fifties are chosen for use by the military because of their ability to perform under low light conditions (dawn, dusk, and nighttime viewing). These binoculars helped win WWII. The ergos are very good. Eye-relief is generous for eyeglass wearers. Individual focus eyepieces are spot-on for diopter settings. They are stiff to adjust, but if they are too loose, they will drift out of adjustment. My only complaint is the glasses are heavy, but this is difficult to avoid. Glass is heavy. The rounded housing with the non-slip rubber coating is easy to grip, and the added weight makes then easy to hold steady. While these are marine binoculars, they are excellent for nature study. They may be too heavy to be carried for extended periods while birding, hiking, and hunting. They are...

J Risner:
I don't have a lot of experience comparing these to other marine binos, but i can compare them to other hunting binos like the 10x42 Bushnell Trophy (~$100) I bot for elk hunting. Those are roof prism vs these Bushnells (like most marine) are porro prism.
This summer I pledge to take them both on the boat and test them side by side for clarity, although not really fair compairng $100 vs $300 optics. The $ are n the glass, and while neither is high end item both are excellent value.
Interesting that I do find the Bushnell's better at color definition when hunting vs the Steiners on the water, but that might be just me projecting. To really compare side by side I would have the take the Steiner's elk hunting and that's not going to happen due to weight. Maybe I will try a side by side in CO when glassing this year in Oct.
I use these while fishing LI Sound mostly to see other boats, bunker balls and shore features.
I fish a 22" Grady. If I had a bigger boat or ran Charters I would prob step up to the Navigator or Commander Series after checking them out,. But as I found out through research on hunting bino's and spotting scopes, every step up...

Walker_paddler: After years of talking about buying a decent set of binoculars I recently purchased these after reading through many online reviews and consumer reports. We are absolutely satisfied with them, and would highly recommend them to anyone. We wanted something that was marine grade and could travel with us - they aren't the lightest pair in the world, but still worth the investment in my opinion. The only consideration for others might be to purchase an optional shoulder strap to provide neck relief.

Knapweed:
My Binoculars arrived the day after I ordered them, which is phenomenal in Canada where we really do have "snail mail". The binoculars were well packed and the parcel arrived in perfect condition.
The binoculars have amazing clarity and contrast for the price and the night vision is extraordinarily good, revealing details that are completely invisible to the naked eye. The sports focus is something new to me, however, it's a mixed blessing. It's great if you are the only person using the glasses but can be irritating if several people share the binoculars with different eyesight and focusing requirements. In truth, I guess it's no more awkward than refocussing a set of centre-focus binoculars so this isn't a major gripe.
The binoculars themselves are very wide, giving excellent 3D, even at a distance. The rubber armour feels like it could protect the glasses even if you used them as a club to repel boarders. As others have said, the strap could be a bit thicker or have a shoulder piece but as you will probably be buying a floating strap, it's really rather a moot point.
In summation, I would say these binoculars are superb quality and feel...

Randy Lueder: I’ve used other pairs of binoculars and they can’t compare to these. The view is crystal clear and you don’t need to adjust them. They are heavy duty and have some weight to them.
