SA7: It’s a great material: sheds water, retains heat, not itchy, everything you’d want out of wool. I hand-washed it when I received it, though, and it immediately shed a good bit of its vibrancy. It’s not so dull that it wouldn’t be suitable as high-vis clothing, but enough that I would advise you wash it sparingly if you want it to stay that way.

Edward: Used it last winter and it's great. Problem is that it stained my shirt when I washed it but that's entirely my fault.

Srleh918: I recently bought this balaclava for bear, deer, and elk seasons where I was tired of playing around with a neck gaiter. I was originally looking at other companies but I didn't want something that was too bulky, and I really like the color choices that Minus33 had so I figured that I would give them a shot. Also, I really hate when products brand their logos on every square inch or make them some loud color so everyone knows what you are wearing and you seem like a billboard. I like high quality, low key items, and this one fit that bill.
When the balaclava arrived, I was really surprised by how thin it was. That did initially worry me because I thought that 'midweight' would have been a little thicker, but I figured that I would give it a go this last weekend in a camping/hunting outing where temperatures were between 22F-48F.
The balaclava performed awesome to my surprise. It is thin enough to allow you to breathe well, wear hats and glasses with - without getting in the way or being uncomfortable at all. In fact, after about 45 min, I didn't realize it was on my face. It did not obstruct my view or breathing, it kept my face warm and dry, and there is enough give...

S: If you are staying bundled, ie: fully zipped, its probably fine. For me though, the fatal flaw is when you have your coat zipped at collar level instead of nose, the balaclava does not extend far enough to keep my lower neck covered. With the opening pulled down under lower lip/chin area, its about perfect. RoughIy 3" of length on the front and it would have been just about perfect. Backside is perfect length.
Its also a bit loose on me, but not unmanageable. I'd probably try to shrink it in the wash but if that didn't work, I wouldn't complain.
I really like this and wanted to keep it but it will not work ideally for my application. Hopefully a future version with extended neck area like others have?

R. Bauer: I use this when I ride my bike and while the temperatures at this time are in the 40s, this thin, comfortable wool piece of cloth does a magnificent job of keeping my head, face and neck warm where other items like a neck gaiter could not. The only issue I have with it is when I'm breathing bits of material will catch in my mouth and every once in a while, my breath will escape and fog my glasses. But for warm and protection against strong winds, you cannot beat this!
