K.A.: This is an analogue video cable, which is driven at very high frequencies and is subject to interference at high resolutions. You see that as a fuzzy image, particularly around letters, when you use it at 1080p and above.
So this cable is much thicker and much better shielded than the thin cheap VGA cable it replaced. It is, in fact, much thicker than the DVI-D cable for my other identical monitor driven at the same resolution. The image quality is better - letters are sharp and defined. Make no mistake, DVI-D, being digital, is still much better. I can still tell which monitor runs on which input. I just have to look much more closely now.
In a nutshell, we should all be moving away from VGA, but for those of us stuck with it this cable gives the best image quality you can expect from an analogue input.

Douglas Smith: I was looking for a 10 foot VGA cable for my computer. On reviewing the choices on Amazon, this one looked and sounded (from the reviews) like a great product. It is! Once hooked up, my background wallpaper and all other images were noticeably better than before. A big surprise to me! The thickness of the cable is more like that of a high quality extension cord, and it must have some bearing on the transmission quality of the video signal. Although this cable costs a bit more than the cheapos, the added expense (which is minor - $10) is well worth it. Highest recommendation. You'll not be disappointed.

Walter Wu: This items is exactly what you expect and is the actual product shown in the photo.
I disagree with some of the reviews that say this product does not include the pictured ferrite core. I ordered the product shipped by Amazon, not through Amazon Marketplace, and it came in a Startech labeled bag with a ferrite core attached.
If I had to guess, the reviews that said that this product lacks the ferrite core may have come from reviewers/purchasers who may have purchased the "item" through Amazon Marketplace. Even though the product listing is for a specific manufacturer's product, some unscrupulous Amazon Marketplace sellers will link their cheaper generic products to a listing such as this, e.g. bait-and-switch. Buyers are lured by the cheaper price but end up with a lower quality product that isn't the actual product listed. Unfortunately, Amazon does not aggressively police this practice and compensate buyers for the hassle of dealing with such sellers who use Amazon Marketplace in this fashion. Amazon places the burden and hassle of this on the buyer. Amazon's management may look at Amazon Marketplace as an additional revenue source and probably wonders why they...

S. Siegel: I originally went to Best Buy to pick up a new 6' VGA cable to connect my PC to my 42" LCD TV (VGA inputs). They only had their own generic brand available, and wanted $25 for the cable. Frustrated, I also stopped in Radio Shack and walked out because they too wanted $25 for a video cable.
I decided to visit Amazon and after reviewing several listings, I purchased this Startech monitor cable. It's hard to tell from the photo whether the quality of the cable would deliver a nice image. I am replacing another cable I bought over the web that was flimsy (thin) and delivered a sub par image - greenish and an strange yellow shadow behind all the images on screen. So this time I really wanted to find a cable that had a diameter like a dime, instead of a pencil - which I think is a good proxy for the overall quality of the materials used throughout the manufacturing process.
I was very happy to see that the Startech cable is quite substantial in diameter and produced an excellent image on my 42" monitor. This cable performs very well and is a steal (I was able to get it for around $10) if you need to replace an OEM cable or if you bought a PC without a monitor and want to...

Michael L: I bought this cable to replace 2 6 foot VGA cables, one VGA M-M and a VGA extension cable, so it could reach my HDTV from my PC. Those 2 were crappy quality and I had ghost cloning on everything, dark objects on a white background had a ghost effect repeating to their right side, it was driving me nuts. so I bought this cable. First thing I noticed when I booted up the PC is that those clone images were all gone, I was happy at first glance, but as it booted up to the Desktop, I noticed that the screen was shifted way over to the right side, I couldn't even see the clock or half of the gadget bar in Vista. I played with the video card resolutions and I noticed it was showing up as a default VGA monitor, and not as Westinghouse HDTV, like it did on my old cables. That meant that the EDID doesn't work on the cable. And I can only pick the closest resolution of 1360*768 instead of the TV's native resolution of 1366*768.
I did solve the issue with the huge offset by actually going into the HDTV menu on the set and go into VGA settings, then click on the Autosync button in the menu and that recentered the screen perfectly.
