Charlie12: Hole size is perfect. You do not lose small items such as rice. Thickness of the metal is not as good as I thought it would be. My old strainer was thicker. Other than that it works great.

Fabio Guglielmo: The handles are riveted on which makes them more solid than the ones that are spot soldered. The base raises it out of the sink and has side drain holes to keep water from being trapped and potentially not draining quickly. Overall a good product.

Real Life Rick: I just want to say thank you to manufacturer for making the right kind of product. I have thrown everything at this thing, put it in sink for days, dishwashed it many times, hot, cold, pasta drain, you name it. This thing is what was advertised to be. Very happy 3 years on with my purchase, not a spec of rust, not a single lose handle or bottom. I do not even know for sure if this is stainless steel or aluminum or what, it obviously is not magnetic at all. But this thing has lasted. I purchased another brand 3 qt similar looking item and that damn thing rusted in 2 dishwashes for me.

Ken in Edmond, OK: This colander is well made and ready for my garden produce. I almost bought the smaller size, but I’m glad I didn’t. It is a great size. The handles are riveted, not spot welded, making this a much better buy than the others with less secure handles. I bought this for the normal reasons, but I needed a colander to rinse rice. I have long grain rice but some rice went through the holes when putting the rice in and when rinsing it. The holes need to be a little smaller. I know some types of rice may not go through, but most people prepare long grain white rice and they need to specify what rice will and won’t go through. Smaller holes solves that problem. That is why I gave it four stars instead of five. The vast majority of the rice stayed in and this is a quality product.

Ich bin froh das es eine stabile Variante ist das nicht durch Kleinigkeiten zerbeult.
Das Produkt ist super, das einzige was vielleicht noch besser gemacht werden könnte ist das manche Kanten nicht so schön vom Griffgefühl sind. Es sind keine scharfen Kanten an denen man sich verletzten kann oder so, allerdings könnte sie etwas smother sein.
Würde es aber wieder kaufen!!

Lorenzo Signori: Found it to be quite a sturdy product, well built, with solid handles, and thick metal. I found annoying the fact that rice grain tend to stuck on the ply of the base of the colander itself or between the base and the mesh, making it difficult to clean. In any case, if you are looking for a colander to sieve or wash uncooked rice, that's not the right product for you, since perforation is too large and let go through a good amount of product. Unfortunately I had to return it since not fit for my usage. It surely work well to drain large amounts of pasta or big vegetables like beans and lentils.

Fiddle: My family are used to buying colanders from the pound store, so when I told them I bought a colander for £16, they couldn't believe it. A few months later, after having used it, they love it and so do I. In fact, it's so nice I bought it three times! Twice for myself, once for a friend.

This colander is perfect for my use-case: draining cooked rice. The holes are large enough to let the water drain quickly, but small enough to not let rice go through (well, a few grains here and there escape, but nothing more).

I want to highlight the draining ports in the ring base as being of particular importance. With other colanders, water can sometimes be trapped either inside or outside the base of the colander, causing the water level to rise back up into the colander. With this colander and its draining ports, water can flow freely between the inside and the outside of the base, preventing water backing up into the food. The draining ports are so important that I honestly don't know why only this colander has them - they should be on every colander that has its own base!

Word of caution - do not attempt to rinse uncooked rice in this colander. It's not designed for...

MDR: The media could not be loaded.  I decided to write this review having felt slightly pestered by the supplier - OK, a few emails :o).

Build quality:
- Having only used it a handful of times not sure; I'm hardly qualified to judge at the moment, but it looks solid enough.
- I think it would dent or bend before it fractured.
- Hopefully it will not rust nor tarnish.
- Don't abuse it and it probably will last a long time.

Practically:
- You can put it in the dishwasher which is a bonus to have that option.
- It's big. Great if you are preparing larger quantities of food. For couples or small meals it's a bit too big IMHO - a handful of cherry tomatoes or a cup of rice looks a bit lost at the bottom of it.
- Think about where you would store a large utensil. Yes it's 28cm in diameter at the top part of the bowl but if you include the handles it's 13cm high and 37cm wide.

Hole size:
- Description says 'micro-perforated'. I'd say about two millimeter diameter drilled holes.
- A hair too big for washing uncooked rice. See video (if it uploads). The rice falls through. Cooked rice is better and you'll lose less - so better if you tend...
