Sturdy and I want more of these to shelve the many books I read because I'm smart and have a higher IQ than most and common sense too. You could think of me like a rarity. martha rising rossonmartha rising rosson: I've been purchasing these shelves for years and have 10 sets in my home HOWEVER I just opened the ones I got in June and found the upright part of the back was Completely Shattered and can't be unfolded!
After so many others I NEVER EXPECTED a problem so my advice be to open Every Purchase RIGHT AWAY. Amazon simply stuck to their 30 day policy so I'm warning future buyers to be aware of the problem. After 11 other sets of these being Perfect I Still love the design.

BuckeyeCountry: Mine arrived in good condition. It was easier and faster to set up than it was to break down the box for recycling! Will purchase another and will look into getting a narrow version. The only problem I see with mine is that I won’t be able to store my bath & body works candles on it unless I rig something in the back of the shelves to prevent them from falling out the back. Even when placing against the wall, there is some gap, so keep that in mind while you decide if the shelves will work for your purposes.

Barbara Elyse: If you have other collapsible bookcases you will probably be as disappointed in these as I was... Not near the finish quality - Yes, the wood slate sides help keep books on the shelf however, I chose white and not only was the finish rough rather than smooth, worthy of placing in a study or living room but the paint is much like a primer and then, the top, instead of a smooth piece of furniture there are these black rubber like knobs - great if you intend to put one on top of the other for a tall bookcase. Thank goodness these are going in a closet or I would have returned them - Half the quality for now double the price in just a couple of years.

db: I bougght several of these units forbooks and displaying my pottery collection along one wall of my bedroom. I have moved twice since the initial purpose and have reconfigured and restacked the shelves with each move. I am surprised at how durable these shelves are, I would have no problem reconfiguring them again or moving again. They are as rigid and the finish is as good as when they were new, several years ago. The natural pine finish has darkened some with age, but not so much that I would have a problem with putting a new shelf into the mix.
My one caveat is that I have anchored the double high shelves to studs in the wall using small metal angles and wood screws. I use a stud finder and a bubble level, transfer the location to a horizontal member on the back of the shelves, attach the clip to the top shelf, then stack the shelves and finish by attaching the clip to the stud. Ir only takes one or two clips per unit.

Colleen Henderson: Nice bookcase. I’m actually using this as a catchall stand in my kitchen. It is sturdy, has three good size shelves and is just right for the spot I have it in. I would recommend this as a multipurpose piece of furniture. I have the little corner shelf as well and it is great too. The finish on it is very nice and it goes together instantly without any hassles.

nites1001: This can't get any easier - just unfold them and they are ready to go. They look great and appear pretty sturdy. The perfect solution to all the books that didn't fit in our larger bookcases. Haven't stacked them (though that was my original intention) so I can't comment on that. If I run out of space again, I will definitely re-order.
