Its only nearly perfect because the locking bar is on the spine, rather than the opposite side. This causes the bar to bite the pad of the index finger every time. Its not enough to cause damage, but it can be startling for the uninitiated. You get used to it, and this knife will quickly become your favorite little helper for those every day and unexpected things. Holds a sharp edge for a long long time, and sharpens up easily with a leather strop treated with diamond buffing compound. Never have to put the blade to a sharpening stone unless you carve wood or sheetrock with it regularly. Its a joy to own and the perfect gift for anyone over 18 years old. It also meets the maximum allowable length in commie states like NY, MA and CA, and does not qualify as a gravity knife. Enjoy!

hatuletohhatuletoh: Given the popularity and relative longevity of the PM2 platform, I can't imagine anything I might add that hasn't already been said, and probably better, years ago by someone more knowledgeable. So most of my review will focus mainly the aftermarket parts I added to my PM2. Briefly though, someone might be wondering: should I spend the extra money for this upgraded version of the PM2 with the "blurple" scales and S110V blade steel? The answer is: obviously I think so, since I bought it. But I'm someone who loves to try new varieties of steel, and only Spyderco is stubborn enough to use S110V blades in regular production.
Is the difference in wear-resistance noticeable compared S30V? Yes, it is. Does that translate to making any practical benefits? None that I've seen.

The attached pics are indeed of this model of PM2, but very little stocks parts are left, only the liner/compression lock and blade. The aftermarket parts are: Flytanium matte carbon fiber scales; from a custom maker in TX, a titanium hardware set, including lanyard tube, anodized "blurple" as a nod to the stock G10 scales; a blue anodized titanium backspacer from China; and a deep-carry, blue anodized...

Chad G: This review comes a year and nearly half after I bought the PM 2 in S110v.

At first glance, I wasn’t really crazy about the look of the blade and the big ugly hole on it. I will tell you right now, oh boy was my first impression dead wrong.

The knife felt solid, I knew that blade wasn’t going to close on my fingers, ever. The action, so smooth, including closing it just by angling it downward and pressing the lock release. Never a need to put your fingers in the blades path. This thing was buttery smooth and very well built. Then, I used it.

Straight from the factory it was popping hairs off my arm. Opening boxes, slicing up cardboard, fruit, wood, oh man. First, I kept it with a polished edge, up to 1000 grit when I needed it touched up, and up to a .5 micron diamond paste strop. It kept an edge for a very long time and cut like a champ. Sharpening, you need patience and diamond, but this is a knife worth taking care of.
Also no matter how hard you are using this knife, it always stays so solid and secure in your hand. When you have a hold of this thing, it isn’t going anywhere.

Frank D.: Klasse Messer! Das ist ein Original und war zu dieser Zeit in D morgens günstiger zu bekommen. Achtet auf den Stahl! Sehr schick und robust. Alles machbar nur bitte nicht einstechen und biegen. Es bricht. Nicht schnell aber das kann bei sehr heftigen Hebeln brechen.
Unendlich scharf und es bleibt so. Dann irgendwann muss man es auch schärfen. Aber es hält ewig. Super Messer!

Da kam es mir gerade recht das Spyderco für das Jahr 2016 dieses Modell hier in sein reguläres Sortiment aufgenommen hat! Unglaublich scharf und einwandfrei verarbeitet! Nicht umsonst seit über 10 Jahren einer der Dauerbrenner aus dem Hause Spyderco! Teilweise sehr schwer zu bekommen! Vorsicht vor China Nachbauten bei Ebay etc.! Kauft beim Händler eures "Vertrauens"!
