Amazon Customer: This roof box has been awesome. It is half the price of the big name brands and, based on what I saw, has more storage than any of them. Installation is not as easy, but it is also not a pain either. We have driven through many rain storms when it was raining the entire trip and all our contents were completely dry. I have not noticed much impact on gas mileage. We have two kids and dog (who takes up the trunk), so this has been a life saver as we've essentially been able to pack everything in the box. It would be nice if there were hooks or something on the inside to strap down contents. Because the box is so big, if you don't fill it up all the way, contents can move around.

PeteNY: We have never owned a roof rack before and were shocked at the prices. This was on sale on Amazon so I took a chance; it was worth it. It holds a tremendous amount of stuff and was easy to install. Yes the plastic scissor hinges are flimsy;,just pay attention to what you are doing and it should be no problem. While I doubt it was needed I purchased a Cartman strap to wrap around the box so it wouldn’t open; but that’s just me. We had zero issues with it, and it didn’t leak a drop of water. We have a 2019 Outback wagon; Thule insisted that it would not fit on the factory installed cross rails that swing out on the roof of the car. But it DOES fit easily, with no modifications necessary. I don’t understand why they had an issue.

GEC: Bought this cargo box since we didn't have enough room to fit everything on our summer vacation trip. I looked at soft cargo and hard cargo box options. I landed on this one after weighing the Pros and Cons. This cargo box is made by Thule. It is a top of a line bike rack company that I am familiar with.
Since this was my first time buying a cargo box let me detail something if you never bought one before. NONE of these cargo boxes are made out of what I would call thick plastic. The plastic is maybe a 1/8" thick. It doesn't weigh all that much since the plastic isn't very thick. I was able to lift it and put it on top of my SUV by myself.
Let's talk about the hardware that comes with the cargo box. Some have commented that it's very cheap. I read a review on here posted about 1-2 years ago where the person upgraded the hardware since he felt it wasn't that great of quality. I couldn't find the exact one he bought, but on amazon you can find National Hardware N244-996 2192BCU Bolt. I paid $5.28 each and you'll need qty-4. I also bought 3/8" locking washers and 3/8 wing nuts at my local hardware store. I think all those cost me like $5 total. I will say if you buy the U-Bolt...

Jennifer: It's huge, fits a lot of stuff, just what I needed :)
Awkward to get into, but that's fine, you make it work-- I keep a stepladder in the car now. Assuming the average user is taller than me, no problem. I think the awkwardness is good because it makes it exposed and tough to pick the lock, so I have had no worries about leaving stuff in it for a duration of time while it is on my car.

Doesn't cause horrible drag while driving, maybe takes a little more time to get up in speed but not much extra. Trip #1 was great, Trip #2 also great, was a little farther.

I should note: you need to measure carefully. I did actually need to drill extra holes to get it to fit my crossbars-- I must have missed something in the specs, and I was overconfident because I saw a great review from another Mazda5 owner with no indication of this. It was my risk to do this because I wanted to use it and not have to wait and I had no trouble. But in doing so I invalidated any right to receive customer service or complain about anything should my next experiences not go well. I just wanted to make it work because I didn't find many good options for carrying capacity out there and so far so...

Adam BrandtAdam Brandt: Very satisfied with our purchase. If you need some extra storage space for your vehicle, the Sport Rack Vista XL offers a lot of value for the money!

We are a family of 6 (plus a dog), that does a fair amount of cross country travel since grandparents are spread out between Georgia and Texas. As the kiddos have grown, so did the space required to get everyone and their luggage packed in for a trip (not including Christmas presents like this past trip!!!). We previously had a soft sided roof top carrier that we used during our cross country move, but I did not like how it strapped down to the car, and required the contents inside to create some sort of uniform shape to the bag so it could be strapped down. I spent a lot of time researching options for a hard sided cargo carrier, and ultimately settled on this Sport Rack Vista XL box.

We purchased this box right before our Christmas trip the year from Georgia back to Texas. The Amazon delivery service used to deliver this large item was very quick and easy, and we got the GIANT box delivered to our house and ready for the trip in just 3 days from order (and I requested a one day delay in shipping so someone would be...

Scott S: This carrier is large and fits a lot of stuff! It is sturdy enough to get the job done and far cheaper than other brands. It mounts to my Thule rack system with a little wiggling to get the holes in the right spot, but not too much trouble. It's light enough for one reasonably strong person to toss onto the roof and bolt it down with the tool-less gear (metal plates on both sides of the plastic, U bolts and hand-tightened large plastic "nuts"). It went through some serious downpours on the highway and came out dry inside. I think it took a rock strike as there is a scuff but it didn't crack or anything. I didn't want to spend 2x or more for a Thule brand carrier so held my breath and went with this option. I am very happy with it.

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: I have just received this rear opening box. This will serve my purpose well. This is not for skis or snowboards but for typical camping or vacation cargo box.
The documents which came with it, suggests that it is a Thule product under a SportRack.
This is spacious and seems durable for its price. Hardware was in the cargo box and the key was taped inside of the packing box. I am going to mount this on my 4Runner and will see how it holds against the elements.

R. Ian Hoare: My previous car top carrier which was valued at just over $550.00 was damaged in a falling garage door incident. This model was an almost exact replacement and even with delivery included saved me nearly $200.00. I have used it to go to the cottage and back and to help move my mother into her new residence and the unit has performed as expected without any difficulty. It is spacious and fairly easily accessible. The construction seems a little flimsy, but when closed it is solid as a rock. Mounting the unit onto the roof bars is a little fussy, but when mounted is extremely solid.
