SPORN Aquarium Background: Non-Permanent, Static Cling Decoration

L. Chap: Great looking background. Quality product, easy to customize fit. My only issue the sun hits the back of my aquarium, during the latter part of the day. The light isn't intense but and I can see where I have a little algae growth on that spot of my rear glass inside the aquarium when I look at it sideways. It isn't noticeable when looking directly through the front glass of aquarium because the backdrop displays greenery. The product in itself isn't the problem, just be aware if you have direct sunlight hitting the rear. I will be attaching a simple flexible covering on the rear of the aquarium. Either way the residents of my aquarium don't seem to care.

chauvesouris: While my turtle's tank was being cleaned, I could move it out from the wall - giving me the space which i think is necessary to work the 'adhesion process.' With my bathroom squeegee, it took a very short time to ensure a bubble-free adhesion which is holding up 100%. The design I chose gives a nice pond-like environment for her; a shady place. Couldn't be happier - for her sake and for the look of it as well.

Meghan B: This is a great product! It looks great now that it's up, however I did have some difficulty. The directions state to lightly mist the background before applying, so when I did this I did just as they said and "lightly misted" it. However, it proved to be very difficult to smooth out the bubbles in drier areas. After struggling for 1 hour trying to smooth out the bubbles (I'm a perfectionist), I pulled it off and decided to vigorously spray water on the background and try again. This worked! It was much easier to push the bubbles out and get it perfect. Some water squished out the edges of the background as I smoothed it, which I simply just wiped up. Not nearly as much patience required as I thought, once I made sure to spray a good amount of water on it.

AnnaJAnnaJ: I wanted to review because of the whole faded/not faded debate! I've attached photos, you can see when you first pull it out of the box it looks very faded. (I've weighted it down with glasses because it wanted to roll up on me.) Once you peel the paper backing off it reveals beautiful rich coloring! It looks great! It's a pretty sturdy but very flexible static-cling vinyl. Waterproof for sure. Pretty easy to work with. My 35 gallon tank was already set up and against the wall so I had to finagle it in there and I know I have some bubbles but you can't really tell through all the water. I included a before and after image so you could see the difference the backdrop makes. It looks a little faded on the back wall of my aquarium but that is probably heavily to do with the fact that I just added new sand and it's still a little foggy in there. This is the "Tropical" variation, for the record.

qwerty: This is a great background, much better than the kind you have to tape on or use adhesive. The image is very bright and clear.

If you follow the instructions carefully, you will have a very nice result. Be sure to mist the back of the aquarium and the front of the cling with water. A credit card works very well as the squeegee. It also helps to mist the back of the cling, so the squeegee slides more easily. I also suggest running your hand over the cling to find the last few bubbles. That will find ones you might not see right away by eye.

One note: the image you see when you first unroll the cling is the BACK of the image. What will be the front of the image is up against the white paper that you will peel off. The front is much brighter and more clear than the back. The instructions call the white paper "backing", but it is really "fronting".
