Pressing On: A perfect craft day project to do with the kids or grandkids. My 4 year old granddaughter was so excited when I brought it out for her bi-weekly hang out at Grammy & Grampy’s. I was afraid the tiny beads would be hard for her. I dipped the elastic thread in clear nail polish, let it dry and snipped off a bit. This made an easy thread for even the tiniest holes to slide through. We sorted her choices on a tray to prevent loss beads. I tied what we called a “stop” bead at one end, to prevent the beads from slipping off as she lifted up her workmanship 😉. It was easily removed and I finished the project (usually bracelets) by tying the ends. You do need measure a longer length than you think so you have plenty to stretch and tie. Tie “very” tightly, at least 2 or 3 times. Otherwise it will not stay.
Note: do not give beaded bracelets to children under 3, or children that may chew on them. They may come apart and are definitely a choking hazard. If you have younger children, be sure to “police” the area after craft time, to make sure all beads have been collected and put away.
