Charl8: This is my second one. I am putting my older one in my rental, & bought this new one for me. I have 4 dogs. This is a whiz for dog hair & the sand they track in. I am 75, I don’t think it is a heavy machine. It works great on carpets & bare floors. That light comes in handy with dark floors. Yeah, on your throw rugs, watch out, because this has a lot if suction & will suck up the corners. The attachments are easy to use, I particularly like the car or upholstery attachment that has the rolling brushes. Gets hair & dust off the furniture easy. I do wish the hose was longer, & yes, there is a problem with it tipping, & I have to put it on a chair to vacuum ceiling fans. It is very easy to use the attachments, love I can wash & re-use the filters, and the thing I thought I wouldn’t like about this type of vacuum……I love I can see when the canister is full, & just dump it. I thought I would miss bags, but I don’t. Also, the canister can be cleaned, too. Amazing how often I detach the handle to suck up something in a corner. I looked at the ratings & reviews for the other Shark models, & decided to stick with what worked for me.

Trust Me: I have been using this outstanding vacuum intermittently for the last 8 years and can honestly say that this is the BEST vacuum that I have EVER used, at home or elsewhere!

PROS:
+Works well! Yes, it works very well on all sorts of surfaces. Carpets, mats, hard floors, and stairs. The attachments are nice for hard-to-reach areas such as corners, stairs, and tight crevices around furniture.

+Easy clean-up! Press a button, unload a compartment, clean it out, load it back in.

+Visible vacuum chamber. You can see just how well the vacuum is working, and when it is time to empty it out.

+Light-weight. You will be surprised at how light this vacuum is for its sturdiness. I have no problem carrying it up and down stairs and from room to room.

+Well-placed handles. The handles on this vacuum make it easy for carrying from one place to another, or for simple maneuvering about.

+Brush-Roll function. Make sure that the Brush-Roll button is always on when you vacuum! This is like power-steering for your vacuum. Makes it much easier to push and pull.

+Reliable functionality. This vacuum operates just as good as new even after 8 years of use!...

wordsmith246: A little background. I live with two cats. I have both hardwood floors and carpet. My furniture is velour with soft cushions. I use Tidy Cats clumping litter for two litter boxes. Tidy Cats is a round pellet type litter and it gets everywhere. The cats, while short haired, shed quite a lot and I've only just been keeping up with the shed fur with regular vacuuming, grooming and sticky rolls. In short I desperately needed a new vacuum, but which one? I could take out a thirty year mortgage and buy a Dyson, but everything I've read says that there are several very good alternatives available to this. Ok, so once again, which one? After reading Micheal Flux's(thanks Michael!) review and the fact that it's almost less than half the Dyson DC41 Animal Complete I decided to purchase the Shark.

This is going to be in initial review of the machine, I'm hoping to update it as I use it more and more.
