regular Joe: Common sense to either bolt or tap screw with a sealant, and to place hinge pin horizontally/parallel to ground, and to use something like a lock through lid latch hole. Otherwise don’t be surprised it slips off as it would be expected to do. Used on schedule 40 foam core low psi 8” sewer pipe contractor/industrial grade and fit snug from package. All hardware supplied for complete install, packaged well. Will pit corrode with salt air but expected result so apply finish/coating before exposure to elements.

PaulPaul: Okay, this setup is awesome BUT it might be hard to find 8 inch PVC at the length you want. I wanted a 12 foot tube but I could only find 10 foot sections of 8 inch PVC. There was a place selling 20 foot sections but I would have had to deal with the extra 8 foot section, and at 30 dollars a foot, no thanks.

So the takeaway? It worked out for me but make sure you can acquire the PVC you need before buying this.

MattMatt: Great quality product and easy to install. I used a bead of silicone around each cap with a couple of self tapping screws. They fit perfect over the 6" PVC pipe. I did have to cut the U bolts down just slightly in order to get a deep socket onto the nuts to tighten.

This is money well spent!

Amazon Customer: I bought the 6" for my fishing poles and it works perfectly. I riveted mine to the pipe for a little extra security. Good fit and finish.

RDM: Item was as described except for the mounts. The threads are m10 not 3/8 which sucked because I ordered extra parts to hang from ceiling only to find i had to locate m10 parts putting me behind.

Andy Tosso: The end cap and door are nearly bomb proof. The u bolts are strong enough to hold more than the PVC pipe could carry. Overall, this is a good product. It arrived looking like it was delivered by Ace Ventura though. There were holes everywhere with bits poking out of the box. A nut and washer were missing as a result. 5 stars if they could sort out their packaging.

It was not exactly simple to install because the bottom holes for the bolts don’t line up when the brackets wraps around the pipe ; I just oversized the drilled hole and used fender washers .
I would recommend this product I am completely satisfied.

Darell D.: The cast parts are pretty impressive. I don't know of another kit that has such a great, real "saddle" for the bottom of the pipe. The cap and door end are well-cast, and fit schedule 40 PVC quite well. I wish the door locked more securely, but I modified it a bit to to make me rest easier when driving with a load of steel bar up there.

For the record, this whole kit cost as much as just two PVC caps cost from my local irrigation outlet. This same kit from other online sources can be almost 2x as much as it is being sold here! I can make my own caps. I can make my own U-bolts, but I really liked those cast saddles, and the cost is so reasonable... so I bought the kit.

I have some info and corrections (to statements I've seen in the comments) to share.

First, this fits well on Schedule 40 PVC. If you want a lighter system, the kit will work on the drain/waste PVC that is about schedule 20. But you must use a bell end on both ends to get the diameter correct. OR you can cut some bands of a few inches each, cut those bands so they expand like a spring clip, slip them onto each end and glue them to make the correct diameter for the cast ends to fit.
