Our situation: We relocated this summer and had to find a way to transport 7 large suitcases/duffel bags, 3 carry-on suitcases, 3 backpacks, and other odds and ends in our 2015 Honda CR-V, along with 3 people. Our CR-V doesn't have a roof rack or a hitch. I searched online, found this roof bag with good reviews, and decided to try the large version (size 17). I actually bought two, but didn't end up needing the second one for our other vehicle.

Unboxing: All the materials and zippers appeared to be strong and gave the impression they should last a while (and they have). The box included clear instructions on how to and how not to install the bag, along with a note from customer service to contact them for help if needed. It also included all of the straps we needed, a protective mat for the roof, and 3 large, lightweight duffle bags. Those bags aren't essential, but they have been helpful for organizing various items. Note that they don't come with every order.

Phillip A.: We needed to do a 19 hour drive halfway across the country, and didn't have enough space in the car for everything we needed. 2 kids, 2 dogs and 2 adults in a RAV4 is a bit much :)
This roof bag was a bit of a gamble since we've never used one before, but after reading the reviews we gave it a try. We used the car fitting guide on their website and got the 17L. It's critical the unit be filled to the brim to prevent flapping and tearing itself apart, so pick your size wisely. The zippers are super sturdy, and have flaps that fold over the seams to prevent water penetration. Our bag made it through 5 states through multiple rain storms and an over night rain. No issues with water. There are multiple options for installation, all with pictures in the included instructions. We did not have a room rack on our car, so we used the strap through the car door approach. Following the instructions provided a fairly quiet ride, with absolutely no movement from the roof bag. The non slip mat that came with it performed well, even though it seemed smaller and thinner than I expected. Maria: It's waterproof, easy to attach and it can attach without a roof rack. I had this bag when I lived in the US and used it for driving about 2k miles. I bought the same one when I moved home because it's so good.

Sandra MSandra M: I am pretty surprised with quality of the roof bag, it adds a tonne space for long trips, it keeps the water outside and its simple enough to install. The straps don't get loose in the middle of the trip, which was a concern for me in the beginning. The material isn't that flexible, which makes it hard to work with but I guess its better to hold the wheather conditions outside of the package.

At the end of trip it gets nastily full of bugs outside, at least in the places I went. But it has nothing to do with the product itself.

Jennifer: I had to search frantically for a roof bag when we couldn't take 2 cars on a camping trip with us due to a breakdown. I have never used one before and for the price I wasn't sure how it would hold up.

After 1 use, in extreme heat and torrential rain, I am so pleased with this roofbag!! I read the instructions, they are clear and pretty straight forward. I added another strap for my own piece of mind but it was not needed at all.

The bag and straps are well constructed. My things were kept dry and the bag did not shift at all during my trip. (I even tried to see if there would be movement by filling it completely, and taking my car to a empty parking lot and did some fast, quick turns prior to my trip). As long as you follow the instructions for filling and strap placement, you should be fine!

I highly recommend this product - it saved my trip!

For reference, I have a Subaru Impreza Hatchback, I bought the large and thank goodness I did because the extra room was fantastic! It fit well on my car!

Doug: I drive an unlimited jeep wrangler for reference without roof rack. I went to the hardware store and upgraded the straps and I did the crisscross pattern. Needed about 20 feet of straps for each one. Held up well, I didn't notice a huge drop in millage. Stayed dry through rain but I packed everything in contractor garbage bags anyways. Small leak where the straps came in but nothing serious. It held up so far three days into trip, I will update if more happens but it looks good so far.

Hard Credit: I Purchase this bag for my wife trip from Toronto to NB. She said it was easy to installed worked beautiful like the advertisement said, she drove mostly highway between Toronto and Bathurst NB and the bag was amazing.
She was driving Honda Accord Hybrid with no roof rack or railing, the roof did not scratch everything work has expected and is now packed up for our next trip. NO damage to anything. Glad we have it. Highly recommended.

Javad Shadzi: Ok so there is a lot of bad/incorrect reviews for this product. I purchased this recently and used it for a weekend trip to Tahoe, it performed well and did all that you could expect for a $100 product. Here are my observations below:

1 - It is a well made, good quality piece for the price, the carrier is made from a thick rubber coated nylon material, the zipper is heavy duty and good quality, the straps are a little thin and the buckles on the weak side but they work, did not fail or loosen. I may consider upgrading the straps in the future to a thicker nylon strap that doesn't stretch as much.
2 - On top of the car (2015 Audi S3) it was very quiet, didn't make any noise and was very uneventful. Because my car has a large glass sunroof I could actually observe the bag and it does lift a lot like any product like this would. Stiffer straps would help. Another thing for the Roofbag people, if you sewed in an additional loop along the front edge a 3rd strap could be used to hold the edge down and keep it from allowing air under the bag.
3 - Do not get a mat for underneath it, it's tempting but it will just blow out in the first 15 minutes of...
