The Tidal 75 is a powerful filter with many conveniences that make it superior to other brands and models. Removable media basket is such a great design.
Flow control works really well. At max flow intake, my media restricts the flow too much and the water level rises a bit too high in the filter - so I keep the flow in the middle range. Also at max flow, I found it to be too turbulent for my little shrimps and fish, and some waste and sand was being kicked up from the substrate.
I don't find the filter noisy. The only noise I notice is any splashing caused by having the flow too high, or any air that gets trapped in the basket when starting the filter dry (the trapped air clears itself over time). The impeller is located inside the tank which also dampens any noise.
Note to tanks with shrimp or fry - this filter will suck up smaller organisms and...

Aleem M.: I’m a big fan of this filter and the Seachem brand altogether. I have a 40 gallon deep and this thing clears the water up after a water change, when all the detritus gets kicked up, in no time. Quiet as can be, easy to setup, easy to clean and you can use your own filter material. I have sponges and the little bio nuggets.

MicahMicah: After I saw this video and heard from 2 more popular YouTubers and online reading (got to do your homework), I brought and the Seachem Tidal is the KING HOB filter. My setup is the sponge first, then Polyfill in the middle and rock bag medium on top that comes with Seachem filter. CLEAR WATER, forget the other HOB's. Also using Seachem with polyfill is cheaper and easier as you can buy your own cheaper mediums + the pull-out filter tray is like the Lazy Suzy of the hobby...SOOO easy to change. Other filters you must use their costly proprietary filter cartridges that are such a rip-off and cloudiness didn't go away for me. I have Seachem Tidal 75 by the way.

booboo: Cons: 1) It's louder than expected. 2) The outlet sits low, and was not able to fill my aquarium as high. I ended up putting a small piece of wood to raise the filter.
Pros: 1) No need to prime the pump before starting it. 2) The single media basket allows me to customize what media to use and how much. 3) The flow adjustment actually changes the flow.
After removing the media basket for cleaning I find I have to turn off the filter and siphon the water sitting in it. I find debris remains in the filter and putting the media basket back seems to push this debris into the aquarium and makes the water dirty/cloudy for a few hours.
