Dane Martineau: Bought this pair to lock up my chipping container I park all my “toys in” even in winter I have no problem with these locks even in the Minnesota cold I have to unlock both to get my ATV out with the plow on it and if there was freezing rain a simple lighter held to it for a few seconds takes care of any frozen moisture in/around the key hole and the tumblers. I will buy another 2 when I get another shipping container I’m making a hunting cabin out of

Garry: Great locks at a great price

The thickness of the shackle is a little higher than normal.It will not fit on a standard gate lock latch. Something to consider whether it is going to be used on doors, and it might not fit through all of a chain links, since it might to large to fit through.

Still it's a very sturdy lock and I quite please with it

Roberto R.: This is solid lock. The lock itself is awesome and will definitely deter any thief. It is massive and the quality is excellent. I'm only taking a star off for the keys. The keys are extremely delicate and thin. I bought 2 of these locks for my front driveway gates. During the first week, I went to open one of the locks in the middle of a rain storm and it took me a while to insert the key, but then the key twisted as butter when I went to open the lock. You have to be extremely careful inserting the key to make sure it goes it the right way. I went to a locksmith and make 4 new keys which are much solid than the originals. Highly recommended if you really need to protect something important. These locks are a tank.

Kyle Johnson: I have owned these locks for one year now, and I can confidently say these locks are some of the best you can buy on the market for heavy-duty service. I have used the locks my truck toolbox, and they have been exposed to all weather from desert heat, to snow and salt in the winter. The locks have never failed to operate, and are still as smooth opening as day one. The real winner about these locks is that they have a 6-pin lock cylinder. You really cant find that on any other commercial lock, even the so-called heavy duty Master Lock and Kryptonite locks have 5 pins at max. What the extra pin does it make it that much harder to pick. And unless some professional lock enthusiasts decides they want to turn to life of crime, I doubt the average criminal lock raker would ever be able to get this lock open. The shackle is also extremely thick compared to others so I have no question that it would be next to impossible to cut the lock without significant effort. I'd highly recommend these locks as they are well worth the price

MARK KIKUCHI: Padlock is very sturdy and heavy duty, however locking detents appear very close case surface and making vulnerable to possible 'shimming(?) Upon being victim to long term repeated 'unauthorized intrusions of dwelling, accompanied by thievery (possibly managerial?) and losing a large quantity of tools & personal items, etc. from what I believed to be secure for most part...With six-pin and robust construction of' Schlage 994831' the only perceived weak point, again may be susceptibility to 'feeler gauge-like shimming' ...To modify , I have placed a 1/2" shaft collar obtained from hardware store on one side of shackle to closely fit and block would-be-shimming (note: collar can be spot welded to shackle to prevent prying collar for clearance...Overall 'Schlage 994831' is one of the sturdiest heavy duty lock(s) @ great value (!) that I have ever owned w/o paying an arm & a leg for a security device...Finally SCHLAGE LOCKS in general are tried & proven to be one of the most reliable lock manufacture(s) on the market. Mark P.S. Unfortunate for me culprit also gains access to my vehicles :-(

Amazon Customer: I know how to pick locks, mid-level in terms of proficiency. I could probably pick most Masterlocks, blindfolded, underwater, using a pick held in my teeth, or just my feet, LOL. Any standard-style lock can be picked, including these, but most locks that are impossible to pick except by Uber experts (MT5, etc.) cost well over $100, and I just needed some locks for an indoor storage unit which has keypad entry and cameras inside. A pair of these with same keying by a good company like Schlage for $30 was an excellent value, I pounced. These took me more than thirty seconds and less than a minute to pick. The tolerances are fairly tight, making picking a bit harder than with garbage products like Masterlock, but it is still a standard straight-pinned lock. By way of comparison, I can pick most any Masterlock using my non-dominant hand in less than five seconds usually. These locks are beefy, and the shackles on them were actually too thick for my indoor storage, but I kept them for a few other uses.

Overall, one should be aware that if you want something which will truly prevent theft by professionals, you need to spend two to four times this minimum for a SINGLE lock, but at...

Extreme Realist: This lock is very well made and feels of quality. The Shackle is massive and allows me to lock up more than 4 very thick chains together at once. The shackle can be locked by pushing down so a key is not needed to lock it. It is my understanding that both sides of the shackle would have to be cut in order to defeat this lock. The added security of the thick cut resistant shackle, bearings and 6 pin cylinder mean most thieves will not be able to get past this lock. Keep in mind that the shackle is thick so it might not fit through all of the chain links. I was able to file down some chain links to get it to barely fit. I use very think chains to lock up my equipment though so ymmv. Having 4 keys is also nice as I can keep a key on me, in the truck, at home and give a spare to my brother. This lock gives me peace of mind knowing that most thieves will not even bother trying to open it. Very happy with this purchase.
