Jennifer B: Do not buy, it is a crappy book. I love Halloween, but this book did not make too much sense. It really needs someone to edit the spelling and grammar mistakes.

Curriculum Vitae: This book is a well edited reprint of a classic work on the history of Halloween superstitions from multiple cultures in the western world. I found it a short, fun read.

karen smith: This book was first published in 1919 and it has dated very badly. There were some interesting parts to this book but it was badly written, badly constructed and often repetitive. The book didn’t really offer the overview of Halloween that I was hoping for, it meandered about so much that there wasn’t really a strong thread of narrative.

Amazon Customer: This is the story of Halloween past which barely exits anymore. Read this book and discover that Halloween was once a day of mischief, oracles, ghost stories and fire. Things have changed so much and trick or treat is barely mentioned here. Read this book to discover a history which people don't know. Some of these poems and customs are not politically correct so bare in mind this book comes to us from 1919. So read this book and remember did I ever have Halloween like that?

Patience: As mentioned in the headline, the book was good, informative, had a lot to say, and presented several examples of different groups and their practices, but the typos were annoying, as well as some of the formatting in the book. Sometimes the old English or paraphrased English verbiage cannot be deciphered whether intentionally or a typo.
The information is good though because it was written 100 years ago, but please re-edit this specific rendition for the sake of typos, as this doesn't seem to be final publication-worthy.
