JohnstoneFam: I won't lie, I first bought this book for me, I have two daughters, at the time of this review one is 8 y.o and our second daughter is 18months.

On quality:
Our oldest has inherited not just my collection of golden books from the 80s and 90s, but also my mother's from the 60s and early 70s. And the quality is the same as those older books. Now if you didn't not keep your collection from earlier years, I can see why you would think it wasn't, because obviously you were smaller back in the day and details of how a book was made just didn't rank top on your list of what a quality book should feel and look like.

The writing:
Is the writing a little advance, sure maybe, but my 8 year old had no issues reading and comprehending this book. But we also have an open policy with our children that they can ask us any question if they do not understand something. This book is a teaching book. It's made to ask questions and be talked about. If you do not have the time to do that, I wouldn't buy this book for your younger children.
Now claims from another review said that they did not understand why this book has received such "glowing reviews" and yet blamed it on that...

DG100: I was really looking forward to add this to the library for the little ones. I was rather disappointed.

First, the quality of these "Little Golden Book"s is overwhelmingly disappointing. Very thin and nowhere near the quality of years gone by. This book will not survive much use. The binding is really thin for a book, even a child's book. Pages are thin as well. I'm really disappointed over the quality we get for our money in the US. Everything's quickly and cheaply made, and this is no exception. It's yet another purchased item that can be improved with ingenuity, but one shouldn't have to do so.

The writing is another abysmal disappointment. I'm not sure why there are such glowing reviews. Millennial parents who do not understand the purpose of MLGB series, perhaps? Let me explain. These books are intended for LITTLE CHILDREN. You are supposed to read these with young children, and they are supposed to learn reading with you as you read these books over and over. Holy mackerel.
