verified purchaser: As others have noted, the straps are awful long but the thing is rock solid on the roll bar even off-road

Ken Ivens: I installed this on a 2000 Jeep TJ. On the roll bar right behind the driver's seat. 3 lb. bottle fit easy. Stayed where it should all season in the back country.

Matt Chouinard: Works as advertised. I have two in my jeep. The material is very tough and they hold the extinguishers tight. I can't see anyway to improve these.

RatherLiveInKeyWest:
This black nylon fire extinguisher holder from Rugged Ridge was exactly what we needed for our 1998 Jeep Wrangler. It seems well constructed, was the right length for where we installed it, and holds a 2.5lb First Alert extinguisher (weighs 5.4 lbs) perfectly (

). If you are looking for a roll-bar extinguisher mount like this, we would recommend this one.
In the descriptive text area, the Amazon listing notes that this holder is made for extinguisher up to a 3lb rating... do not confuse this with the actual weight of the extinguisher itself, that note is actually talking about the contents of the extinguisher. We purchased a 2.5lb extinguisher for this holder and it fits quite well, though the extinguisher actually weighs about 5 1/2 pounds. It would be nice if the seller modified the text to make that a little clearer.
We opted to mount this holder underneath the upper arm of our Jeep's roll bar cage, on the passenger's side, near the rear (between the roll bar mounted speaker and the back of the cage). It is positioned under the upper arm with the extinguisher laying horizontally; the nozzle end of the...

I use these to mount 2 each, 3# fire extinguishers on the base of my tractor's roll bar, supported at the bottom by the tractor, with one mounted on each side of the 2" x 3" rectangular tubing. So far they are working fine and provide easy access from the ground or from the seat.
This type of a solution was the only one I could find for my circumstances and find the particular items I received to be of a good design, have good workmanship and what seems like quality materials. And I have no idea why some others had negative comments about this product. Maybe they have been upgraded since their reviews?
The only partially negative thing I could say is the strip of material at the bottom of this holder is not centered and supports the fire extinguisher towards one side, rather than centered. But it still works fine.

ksmith: I read the reviews of several of these products and chose the Rugged Ridge. The only negative reported was that the strap was longer than needed. I do have about 2 inches of extra strap, but would rather have extra than not enough. And, considering that, if I ever have to use the extinguisher, I want to release it easily, the extra strap will allow me to grab, yank and release, allowing the extinguisher to be removed easily. The driver's seat on my 1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ does not flip forward so I mounted it to the base of the roll bar right behind the seat. I was able to tuck the extra strap back and out of the way by doing so. And, I experienced none of the looseness some of the reviewers wrote of. You can pull the straps tight enough to prevent that from happening.

The Jetsons:
I've gotten quite a few things from Rugged Ridge lately, and over-all, I've been impressed. Great prices, great reviews, great products.
I needed a solution to stow a fire extinguisher in a jeep and this kit fit the bill perfectly.
It's two very dense webbing meshes sandwiched and stitched together with three very strong straps on each side. One set of 3 to wrap around a pole for the mount and another set of 3 to wrap around the extinguisher. Plus, the lowest extinguisher wrap has a secondary strap that comes down and back to the mount providing a base strap to prevent the extinguisher from sliding or slipping out(down) for whatever unforeseen reason.
I would like the straps for the extinguisher to be a little bit longer, including the base strap at the bottom. I found that your really need to mount the extinguisher in there first, then mount the whole setup to whatever pole you're attaching it too.
The other thing that really knocked it out of the 5 star class, was that when I was synching down the last (top) mount strap, the stitching in that corner that holds the extinguisher webbing backing to the mounting webbing backing tore. ...

John:
I installed this in my Rhino. I had to add some foam wrap to the rhino roll cage bar because the the tubing is too small for this, which is designed for thick jeep style cages.
Seems well constructed of heavy webbing with strong stitching. Easy to intall and holds the extinguisher securely even under rough conditions. Recommended.
