HikerJohn: The original batteries failed to hold a charge and I replaced them with a set of Panasonic NiMH batteries which sometimes did hold a charge and sometimes did not. My conclusion is that not all NiMH batteries are the same. Thus, it is important to make sure that the replacement batteries have the same model number as the original batteries.
