I am one of those dog moms whose two puppies are her children. Only the best for Loki and Thor! I've read a lot about propylene glycol, which is a key component in automotive antifreeze. In small doses, it may be fine, but it's been known to cause seizures and other diseases in animals, and it's poisonous in large doses. Unfortunately, I had ordered one of the most popular treats on Amazon and given it to the boys before discovering it had propylene glycol. Since then, I've scoured the labels of everything I give them, because I use a lot of training treats right now and I'm not willing to take any risks. I refuse to believe "they're just dogs" and something I wouldn't eat is somehow fine for my boys.
I decided to order Rocco & Roxie Gourmet Beef Jerky Dog Treats on Amazon Prime Day after reading the rave reviews. These treats have only good, simple ingredients that are made in the USA. In fact, the ingredients seem far healthier than lots of the jerky for humans that my fiancee insists on eating! No meat by-products, no propylene glycol. Just beef, rice protein, spices, salt, sugar, garlic powder, and potassium sorbate.
