Kathy Rascon: Where do I begin. Joanna finds herself tossed into a mystery after her father passed away. She must find the answers in a small village in Italy where her father's plane was shot down by the German army. There are,so many int loeresting stories that come out of war. Mrs. Bowen has done a wonderful job painting the picture of the Tuscany countryside, and especially describing the food. I could almost taste it. Love, drama, mystery, tears. Enjoy this journey.

Kindle Customer: I especially liked the story of the downed pilot and his romance with Sophia. The story had elements of danger and the history of the English flyers behind the German lines. I didn't care for the descriptions of the preparation of the Tuscan dishes. I thought this was a distraction from the story. I enjoyed how it ended with all loose ends resolved.

Barb: Mir hat gefallen, dass es 2 Erzahlstränge gab. Einen zur Zeit des 2. Weltkriegs und ein anderer in der Jetzt Zeit.

Packend erzählt, wie die zwei Geschichten verwoben sind.

Amazon Customer: It is a very slow read. I scanned a lot. The crescendo just was not really impactful.
Did make me want to to Italy!

Janet: Easy read - great for a holiday read- especially in Italy . Description of Italian dishes very accurate and made me want to re create them!

James C: Enjoyed hugely .
Genuine central characters who one admires and likes .Both seem a little aloof . Sofia is described so beautifully .. warm , kind and lovely. A little predictable an outcome … but all in all a lovely read .

Jenny Howard: Loved the descriptions and made me want to go Italy. Quite sad in places. Every time food was mentioned my mouth watered( with the exception of during the war).
A good read but readers should bare I kind present day is the seventies!

J. A. King: This is a dual timeline plot (WW II and 1970s) that takes place in Italy. Rhys Bowen’s heroines are courageous with pluck in both timelines. The plot lines are well intertwined and paced. The characters have enough depth ( strengths and flaws) to be interesting. Four stars because the villain and motivation was predictable and in the final scene many timely coincidences (albeit well foreshadowed) stretched my beliefs.

Nicole Stolle: The Tuscan Child by Rhys Bowen follows two separate storylines that help each other develop throughout the novel. With the first storyline being about Hugo, a military pilot, and the other about Joanna, his daughter, a very interesting story is told and revealed from the two different perspectives. It was written in early 2018, but it does a great job at recalling the past settings and characters. I think it also helped that Bowen had recently traveled to Tuscany, as her details were extremely accurate as to what you would truly see and find. Though I did enjoy reading this book, the ending left me feeling disappointed as it was very predictable and the events worked out so well that it was a bit unrealistic.
Bowen does a fantastic job with detail, pulling the reader into the universes of both storylines, making one feel as though they are seeing it through their own eyes. It is a very easy read, with simple language and not too many conflicts overlapping at once. The two character’s storylines are layered perfectly and the progression of the given information is expertly crafted. The two storylines build off of each other as they are read and none of the clues go to waste....
