Amazon Customer: This is the 3rd Barbara Davis book I have read this year. Each one is beautifully written and gives you such a warm feeling when finished. The connection between Rory and Soline is nearly supernatural, kindred spirits sharing a similar lost love 40 years apart. They are brought together by a box of Soline's memories and treasures. Together they help each other heal.

Book Charm: Absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Loved the ending. Tearful in places but the ending certainly makes up for that. I will be checking out this Author’s other books.

KATE B: The clever way Davis interweaves the stories of all these women whom are connected in ways we aren’t made aware until deep into their shared experience is phenomenal! Cutting in and out from their own era and the decades that separated them, we see these women carry deep profound losses in their own hearts and feel their harrowing devastation when their hearts are inexexplicably shattered by the men they love, some who’d born their child and hadn’t ever the good fortune of sharing that beautiful gift with them. These women are uncannily strong yet deeply wounded from their exorbitant suffering and loss. They chose to close themselves off and withdraw from their lives when it’s all too much to bear. Yet, the 3rd generational daughter will make decisions that will separate her from the choices her previous generation s of women couldn’t and because of this veering off the course as it’s been told to them to be true they become masters of their own destiny and of that of their matriarchal ancestors. Such a harrowing but often lovely prose and the bones and echoes between these invisible tethers that hold all these women bound together is too powerful and strong to be lost...

Sherry M. Foley: I adored this book. It is a romance, yes, but so much more than that. It is not the romance story you are used to reading. Instead, it is deep, delving into the very hearts and souls of an entire family. It is the answer to forty years of absence, where the acceptance of death and the years of heartache that follow culminate in that which all of us long for - a happy ending. This book is recommended for anyone who has ever loved. And lost. And come to love again.

gloria turner: I loved the mystery of Soline's gift and how it wove into the story and not just with the dresses. I hoped Anson was still alive and wanted Rory to be more than a friend, having the connection we have for some people in our hearts and psyche . I didn't like Owen's character or his ruthless behaviour or Camille and her controlling attitude, but as the story unfolded it became plain where this stemmed from in her childhood . I cannot believe I have finished the book and will read this again in the future as I do with books that move me profoundly . Thank you for the opportunity MS Davis

Amazon Kunde: The book tells the story of many lives who have been kept apart through prejudice and,as in this case conflict. Great story.

Britta Wülfing: I’m a pretty demanding reader when it comes to love stories. The moment they become too slushy or novelettish I stop reading. This story never felt like that. Now I have to deal with my ‚end-of-book-‚hangover‘ ;-)

RTemp: I liked this book. But if you want a rather unbelievable plot and a “they all lived happily ever after” this is it. I’ve read three of Barbara Davis’ books and “Echos of Old Books” is the one I liked the best. If you truly want an “ escape” book, this one would be okay.
