Rhys Bowen's Novel "The Venice Sketchbook": An Intriguing Tale of Romance and Adventure

Amazon Customer: I read this book when it first came out and loved it! Now two years later I recommended it to my book club and have just finished reading it for the second time. Certain things I remembered and others were like discovering for the first time. I loved going from 1939 then leaping to 2001. A very good story with history melted into it.
I love all of Rhys Bowen's books and am glad I can share them with my friends.

In Venice we meet two Englishwomen, first an aunt in the 1920s, and then her niece in present day. Their lives follow similar courses in this beautiful City.
The present must unravel the past. In either time frame, many interesting and brave people are a part of the entire mystery. We struggle through the 1940s, a world war, an atmosphere of artists and education, daily living.
The comparison of past and present, the fascinating lives are unforgettable..
This mesmerizing author Is a master of her craft.

Kathy Rascon: Oh my. I loved this novel. So descriptive of life during times in Venice before and during WW2. A love story for all time between Leo and Juliet. Juliet was so young but over the years she matures to a strong courageous woman. And seeing things from another viewpoint in 2001 only makes this story more interesting. The visual descriptions described by Rhys Bowmen are amazing. It would be a great movie as well. James Cameron....another water movie idea.

Kindle Customer: The book is very well written.It brings out the humane and Nobel aspects of true'love between two young ones but then tied to family obligations they sacrifice their love.It also brings out cultural differences between Italy and Continent on one side and Britain on the other.It makes a great reading.
