Lori: I bought this specifically for the pill popper. Haven't tried the other two pieces. The split silicone end does hold the pill. However, that's about where the positives stop. Trying to dose a cat, by myself, who hates being held, restrained, etc and trying to open her moving mouth, insert the shooter and keep the plunger part from either falling out completely or in the tube too far to "shoot" the pill is just about impossible. I'm sure it would work better with another person, or two, helping, or a willing subject.

WAYNE DIPPLE: If using these devices do not over insert the silicone tubed pill popper and you will be fine with cats and small dogs with bigger dogs you use the plastic tubed one so the dog would not bite off the silicone end. The silicone ends are very tight and it would take a lot to pull it off but if the animals teeth get past the the silicone tip it may be easier to pull back and swallow . You could insulate tape this silicone part to the holder and this should make it safer so it cannot be bitten off.
