I've had 2 arthroscopic surgeries in my adult life, so I know a thing or ten about a good ice pack. I have another surgery coming up this June, so I wanted to be prepared for the post-op life. I bought these and DAMN. These. Are. Cold. This is what you want when you are looking for an ice pack for an injury. I haven't personally used the sleeve that it comes with, but I can tell by the fabric that it's thin enough that you will be able to feel the cold compression through the fabric as well. I have been using the ice pack for my hip injury - a labral tear. Listen. If you need an ice pack for your hip/groin, nothing will be perfect because it's an awkward area to fit an ice pack to. HOWEVER, this ice pack is cold enough that it actually can target that area which is what I appreciate. I already know that these ice packs will be awesome for recovery for my surgery, but they are great for any other icing you need to do. These would work well for hip, knee, shoulder, back, wrist (maybe get a smaller one, but I like the big size), etc. These are high quality in every way. Would absolutely buy more down the line! Thank you for making an excellent...

Nancy: On February 15th I ordered the 2 gel packs with the velcro sleeve wrap and received them the next day! I have total knee replacement scheduled for next Monday and now I know these will be my saving grace. I order early so I could try them out and use them now for pain relief as I re injured my bad knee a few days ago. The knee not being replaced has a torn quad from last year. So now I can use both of these pads at the same time, I just put the second bag in a lightweight t shirt. I did have regular knee ice jel pads but they were no where close to keeping cold, being pliable and just doing the job that these gel pads from Rester's Choice do.
To test how long they would stay cold, I put in the freezer overnight then the next day after extreme pain I put the jel pad in the closed velco sleeve (which is a fantastic - well made and easy to use 2 velcro straps and it's secure) on my very warm knee. I sat in my recliner and after 20 minutes it was still ice cold and my knee felt much better. I timed another 20 minutes and it was still cold enough to put on my other knee for 20 minutes without putting back into the freezer.
I had read and read about the ice therapy...

Pearl: Bought these for my dad because he had back pain and he ended up LOVING them. I got these bigger sized ones so they could cover a larger area and even more so because the pack comes with two which we used at the same time. My dad said not only did the heat feel good, they actually helped his muscles relax and healed him faster. Now that he no longer needs them, I like to heat them up for cramps and even just to stick under my blanket when it has been really cold. We use them exclusively for heat but appreciate that they can also be used for cold therapy. There are only two drawbacks that I experienced - one, while the process of heating is technically easy (you just microwave them), it can be a little time consuming because you can only heat them for like 20 seconds at a time and then you have to distribute the heat by massaging the pack. My dad liked his really hot so with 20 second internals on two packs, I was at the microwave a good amount of time. Also, if you do not distribute the heat well, it does heat up unevenly, which means it might not feel hot but then you grab it and it feels like it burned you. Or alternatively, you feel like you heated it through and then the heat...

Russ Hummel: So first, a little about me: I’ve been what we call “pit crew” in the family for total knee replacement patients now for 5 knees: father in law (both), my wife (both), my mother (one). Hospitals, taxi to rehab, home care, etc. - I’ve done it all, and thru that, I’ve garnered a lot if intel about the whole process and how necessary gel packs are in recovery. I also know a bit about pain myself, as I would have had my own TKR by now (Bone on bone diagnosis) but due to this Covid stuff, they’ve put that off - so now, I limp. I do the best I can, but at the end of a work day, it’s time for ice… Thru all this, I’ve come to know the value of a good gel pack, and I know there’s a difference between quality ones, and the cheapies you can find at a grocery store.
My order came today, and I’ve gotta say these are amazing! They’re MUCH sturdier than the ones we’d been using, AND the price! The ‘good one’ we had and shared around the family was roughly the same size as these are, cost me $25 bucks some years back, and these - which are of far better quality, plus you get TWO of them, AND a pouch to put them in so you can just strap it on, were only $32??...
