Retevis H-777 Two-Way Radios - Long Range Walkie Talkies

All the Good Names are taken!: I have had several models of the radios now (all H-777). For my limited use they work well. Issues I had with them have been addressed by the manufacturer directly. I have a too old model of H-777 for the brand new ones to work with the old ones. Retevis has responded and provided a solution. I will now be able to have two new sets that will work together as I had originally hoped. I am surprised and happy with their kind offer. Goes to show a company that cares about their customers. I am impressed.

Will LMWill LM: UPDATE: Retevis Store contacted me ASAP after my first initial review to help me with my concern regarding the USB chargers. They have since resolve this issue to my full satisfaction.

These FRS radios are excellent radios. Each Radio (6) came with each own charger, belt clip and hand strap. These radios are light on the hand, audio is clear and loud. In other words, these radios work really well. Battery life is also pretty good - they are long lasting, with average continuous use of 7 to 10 hours. As mentioned above, communication is clear, be it inside or outside.

Obviously, these radios are not for long range. But for my purpose, which is for communicating with other vehicles when we are on a convoy, it works great. I can still talk to someone ahead (or behind me) even if it is 1 kilometer away.

For about $15 each radio, I would say that this is an excellent buy.

I ordered the 6 pack FRS Walkie Talkie radio. Each radio came in each own box. Package arrived 1 day early and in good condition. The radio sound quality is good and it's very light. I am just disappointed that it did NOT come with the USB...

Amazon Customer: I ordered the 5 pack. Came as advertised, easy to charge, easy to use, (the kids are still not getting the concept of push button, then talk, then release, but that is a kid thing). I keep accidentally turning mine off. We use them for field work while training out labradors. We use them up to 400 yard distance and they are clear, lightweight and recommended.

ORIGINAL: My production company uses the radios for communication during live, on-location TV production. As the director & TD, I communicate with camera ops and p.a.'s over a period of one to three hours. The crew, for the most part, listen and take direction. On the other hand I do most of the talking; calling shots, etc.. At a recent location job I was surprised after one hour by my radio's "robo voice" saying the battery needs charging. No advance warning either, because once that was announced the unit would not transmit, period. This is not good during a live production, with others awaiting direction. (suggestion to Retevis engineers: Have the robo voice announce "Battery is Low" when it reaches a specific low voltage threshold).
Again, with me doing most of the talking I did have the radio keyed to "talk" during, oh say, 80% of that hour. And I was using PTT, not VOX. I'm guessing that --much like a cell phone-- standby battery life equates low drainage (for my crew that was listening), whereby talk/transmit time will deplete the...

We run an office in New York City in the heart of Times Square. We need or sales reps on the street to be able to communicate with our offices to make sure of ticket availability before walking a customer to our office for a purchase.

We are surrounding by sky scrapers.

We were having a MASSIVE issue with the 3W H777 models...they would stop working within half a block.

So we bought these thinking "stronger power"...and then realized we needed to reprogram them to work with the H777's.

We not only adjusted the frequencies for the channels, but we set up two private channels for managers.

We also adjusted the squelch to the lowest setting and VOILA! These radios work AMAZINGLY well and transmit clearly for about a 20 block radius...which is kind of a big deal in Times Square/New York City.
