The pole is so much lighter and the action seems really good for various types of dry and wet fly castst, I'm thinking it's a good purchase when considering what I was about to spend on some other poles in this class.

Winston Smith: Seems like a solid rod (I guess?), but be aware, that "lifetime warranty" they put in all CAPS is a bit misleading, and only covers their manufacturing defects. I broke the tip, and somehow the tip (which they mass produce and have a web e-comm store set up) costs $45 (before tax/shipping) to replace, when the entire rod costs $128 - the tip is 8 inches of 9 ft. Will probably scrap it and just buy an Orvis with a proper warranty, but if you don't break it (good luck) it's a decent rod.

daniel: Bought this rod as a temporary replacement rod ,while waiting on another to be fixed . The fly line does catch a bit on the rod loops but not noticeable ,and will smooth out after little use . An excellent starter rod reliable yet cost effective proving that you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other .

Mark Anderson: I want to love this rod (5wt), but I'm kind of "meh" about it. It's not great for short casting situations, although plenty accurate with about two rod lengths or more of line out. I'm not sure 5 is the optimal line for this rod, either. I'm going to try overlining with a 6 just to see if that makes a difference, maybe underlining with a 4 (though I kind of think it wants a heavier line.) Casts are also not especially gentle, which, considering this is a "Classic Trout" one might hope for a bit more subtlety. My glass Revival in 3wt or Fenwick FF75 in 5 wt are much gentler. Still, it's a good value, and a decent intro rod; I believe I'll let my grandson use it.
