Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: My picture is horrible, because I was hot, sweaty, bleeding from several areas, and had uttered more curse words to fill up an entire case of swear jars. Oh and of course my blood sugar was low and I was 'hangry.' But that's what happens when you do big projects on your RV. You can see the old leaky water heater dumped on the ground, and the new one in place, ready to be plumbed. A few modifications, and it was a nice swap. Now how to deal with the fact that it is about an inch too small all the way around? I could modify the exterior of my RV, but no, I figured out a way to mount the new heater, and still use the same door from the old heater. I got lucky; most RVs probably won't be this easy. That's on you.
As for how it works: Quite well. I've been playing around with it for about 2 months. You can set it and forget it. Your water will stay the same temp. It likes steady flow; if you mess with it here and there, it will turn off and on, and you'll have to wait a minute or so until it levels out. That's no big deal. The remote does have a few weird things going on, but I find the less I mess with things I don't understand, the better they work. I guarantee you that 90% of...

Sandi F.: Do NOT expect tech support on this product. I had a problem with the max heating level (it would only raise the water temperature by about 20 degrees) which caused me to call their tech support. I was not allowed to talk to a technician, only a customer service rep named Jen. The only solution I was offered was to rip it out of my RV and return it to Amazon for an exchange. This was completely unacceptable, since I'd spent a day retrofitting the opening to accommodate the new heater, and it wouldn't have solved the problem if I had. Instead, I paid for my own local technician to determine the following: MY PROPANE REGULATOR WAS NOT ADEQUATE TO THE DEMAND REQUIRED. I had to upgrade my regulator to allow for higher propane flow. With that info, INSTANT FIX. Do not depend on RecPro to help you. But the unit itself will, in fact, heat water like a geo thermal hot spring and give you hours of hot shower bliss when properly equipped...

Marc Ross: First, install was not too bad other than it not coming with the pressure relief valve, cost $100 for the valve and associated brass tee's and reducers, etc., I used vinyl hose on the pressure relief valve and routed it out the bottom of the camper, so if it relieved it would safely drain outside.
Now as for usage, if you boondock, this probably isn't going to make you happy, you have to have the water flowing to make it heat, with that said, I had hot water everywhere on my camper, except in the shower where I wanted this for anyways. In the shower it would get warm then cold and do it in pulses, so after trying to figure it out I realized it wasn't getting enough flow, so I pulled the shower head apart and pulled the water restrictor out....after that I had all the hot water I wanted for as long as I wanted. I'm not sure if you could drill an extra hole in the restrictor and get it to work properly, and since I threw it away won't find out. May try it with my outdoor shower head(same one) and see if it's able to still restrict some but get hot water. Only complaint is I wish it got hotter, around 140F would be my wish but I like hot hot showers, the 123F it runs is fine, just...

John CekalaJohn Cekala: Short Story-It works as advertised.
Long Story-If you have tools and skills in demolition/remediation, cabinet making, sheet metal, plumbing, low voltage electrical, confined workspace, with 40 man/hours of labor then this is an easy project. Since my local codes did not require a PRV for this type of heater, I did not install one. Concurrent with this install I replaced and updated 50% of the RV's plumbing, install a new 40psi water pressure limiter for the Municipal side inlet, 12vdc water pump, isolation valve to separate operation on 12vdc Coach water or Municipal water. Downstream of the isolation valve I added an accumulator with a pre-charge of 15psi on the air chamber. I live at 5500' elevation and the Tankless Water Heater worked just fine despite what the manual has printed.
I performed the standard soap bubble check of the LP line for leaks. Afterwards I purged all the air from the water lines and started the unit for 5 minutes and shutdown, checking it for problems. Last I conducted a 60 minute pressure test of the Municipal water system to insure the heater had no leaks.
The heater has a 1 year warranty, we'll see if it can meet or surpass the 10 years of...

shane keene: If installing yourself, you’ll need to be mechanically inclined. Instructions make understanding the system relatively simple. Start to finish it took me about 4 hours for removal of the old water heater and installation of the new one. Long hot showers are a reality now for an RV.
