Joseph Brant: There was a glut of country star autobiographies in the mid-90s and many of them were not spectacular. Tanya Tucker freely admitted that her cowriter did all the heavy lifting. Naomi Judd revised her story once the family history she'd obscured was revealed. Glen Campbell glossed over the cocaine and other early 80s excesses.
In 'My Story,' Reba appears confident her fans wanted at the time to learn more about her 1988 divorce and her firsthand experience in 1991 when the plane crash killed her band and road manager. The first 50 pages is littered with more exclamation points than you can handle. And near the end it feels more like she sat with a list of points/recollections/courtesies she wanted to make and drew a few paragraphs regarding each of them.
But it's 26-years-old and as a teenager I devoured it in hardcover the moment it was released. Were it written today, it would include commentary on some of the issues facing women in the country music industry, historical context, and in-depth reflection in general on the business of music in the 1970s, 80s, 90s, divorce at 60 versus 33, moving forward and celebrating a career that remains relevant and vibrant.

Ms. D. Wright: Fantastic book to read. Very down to earth and funny at times. Very good pictures in-between text. Very easy to read. Would like to see a part two of Reba book.

Susansings: I love Reba. She is one of my favorite singers in any genre. Her memoir of her childhood and her first 20 years in the music business is good. It kind of dragged in a few places but she went into a lot of detail. All in all it was a good read.
