Reading Success for Minecrafters: A Guide for Grades 1-2

Mark: My son likes Minecraft. He views doing the workbook as fun, I don't think he's realized it's "work." He picks it up and does it at the table without prompting. I'm so happy to see him reading and writing.

It’s cute
It’s funny
My children 4,6, and 8 really like it.

Cons : It says first and second grade. But it’s definitely not for a home school private school second grader. Or a 1st grader. It would be good for my 4 year old.

M.F.: Great book to get MC fans interested in reading. Major motivator for my 7 y/o boy who dislikes typical workbooks. Recommend buying bigger MC book from this author which includes math and games, all of the pages in this book are in there. I bought both not realizing that.

kristian: My kid was a bit on the precosous side, learning to read before he entered kindergarten. Wanting to find him something that would help him grow but still be fun, we landed on using this workbook. This workbook is pretty ingenious for theming itself around something so many kids love. The first section, which focuses on vowels and word identification, is a bit boring and I'm not sure is particularly effective at teaching the kids anything. The next section where more reading is involved is much better. The book is meant for first and kindergarteners.

A. Mac: A great product for the very hard to motivate child. Doing homework is a constant fight with my 8 year old. He loves Minecraft so it’s a bit easier to get him to do this work. •A bit easier • not easy. I think because Minecraft is something he thinks is fun and it is familiar to him and it holds his interest more it is possible that he feels more confident he will succeed at knowing the answers so he is more willing to try solving these problems.

Grandma of 3: I truly liked this book and felt it would be perfect for the young reader in my life. He was enthusiastic for the first few pages and then totally lost interest. Since he is such a huge Minecraft fan I was surprised. I don't feel that it is not any fault of the book that I gave it 4 stars, it was an unwilling child. who did not want to read, period.
