Though, I think his principles should be shortend or somehow made more practical and accessible to suit most people's lifes . Robert ‘Bob’ Macespera: Ray Dalio has been one of the great animators of the financial world in recent times. A very successful investor through his Bridgewater fund, Mr Dalio likes giving around his opinions in interviews, articles and tv appearances, always in a kind, almost gentle way. His "circles" theory of the finance world (which he made available to download free in his company's web) is very good, more ellaborated that it looks initially, yet at the same time it's a very personal piece - Mr Dalio wants to educate potential investors with his personal experiences and thoughts.
This "Principles" book was much anticipated and comes with recommendations by heavy weights of American capitalism. As its title suggests, it's at the same time a manifesto on doing business, yet also a reflection on the investor's life. It is long, diverse, deep and personal - these are the virtues, quite visible along the pages, yet in these very features lie their own flaws.

Principles are fundamental truths that serve as the foundations for behaviour that gets you what you want out of life. People who have shared values and principles get along. The principles you choose can be anything you want them to be as long as they are authentic—i.e., as long as they reflect your true character and values.

Principles should be informed by live lessons and the lessons learned from the decisions you make. Which means you need to become aware of why you make decisions. A workman like approach to Kahneman’s stage 2 thinking.

Do you write down decision-making criteria before you make a decision? Do you systemize your decision making? Do you know what you want? Do you know what is true? Do you know what you are going to do to do to achieve your goals?

Axel Merk: Spending $26.95 to pick Ray Dalio’s brain for over 16 hours listening to the audiobook appears fantastic value to me. The thought crossed my mind to offer Mr. Dalio a charity donation in his name if he gave me the opportunity to make it a two-way conversation over lunch. But that wouldn’t have been consistent with his (or my) Principles. Instead, I’m offering my radically truthful review for $0. The challenge for Mr. Dalio is whether reading this review will be time well spent. Ray, you do not know my ‘believability’ – and that is a key deficiency in your principles you might want to address, especially when applied to the next phase in your life. Let me expand.
