Carlo: Solid glass. Perfect size for mixing components. You can use your hand held immersion blender right inside this beaker.
I love it!

Erik Hoopes: I use this in the kitchen for various things and it's super handy! Being heat-shock resistant means it can be used to replace a number of other tools in my small apartment and free up space, which is always helpful. I use it to mix up and pour 'Better Than Bouillon' through a strainer to get the cartilage bits out, soak dried mushrooms in boiling water, brew batches of tea or coffee concentrate, rinse shirataki noodles, among other things. The pour spout is very handy, and it's large enough to make a good amount of anything but small enough that it is super easy to wash by hand. I have even put it directly on a burner to heat things up, though that does make me nervous... I've whacked it pretty hard on ceramic and stainless steel and it hasn't broken or chipped. Borosilicate glass is the great, it's a shame that it is being used less often in cookware. Anyways, handy little thing! Get yourself one!

Elaine C. Sharpe: After breaking several pieces of (allegedly) borosilicate glass cookware -- in spite of being extremely careful and always using a heat diffuser between the flame and glass -- I decided to resort to pyrex lab glass for the preparation of herbal medicines and my morning masala chai (metal cookware alters the natural medicinal compounds in many herbs and tea, hence glass is most desirable). That makes this the most important piece of cookware I own, oddly enough. Anyway, this pyrex beaker does the job just fine so far and will hopefully be something I replace quarterly or semi-yearly, rather than semi-weekly. :)
It does seem to be of reasonably solid construction, thicker glass than the borosilicate tea pots and cookware I've tried. The white markings are nice and clear without having to press your nose up to it and the pour spout is well-formed. So far so good.
UPDATE: Here it is one month later and this beaker is holding up just fine. I always use it on a flame diffuser on the burner of a gas range, to prepare a medicinal masala tea twice per day. Sometimes when pressed for time I've used a medium-high flame, yet so far no ill effects.
I'm satisfied that this...
