SamSam: Bought these to replace the stock snares that were snapping off.
I use my kit about 2-3 times a week for around an hour and a half to two hours at a time.
Two years in and they still function well, sound great and haven’t had one snap off yet.

These will be my go to replacement snares, great product.

I Am The Entity In MeI Am The Entity In Me: This snare drum 🥁 strainer is a perfect addition to a 5x14 snare. The Brass is of good quality & brightens up the sound of the drum.

Daniel Breymaier: These are good snare wires but on my 6.5 inch PDP maple/poplar snare drum I actually liked the Pure Sound Blaster wires better which I purchased at the same time. The 24 brass wire count did not have the crisp snare sound that the Blaster wires have although they did sound good. I am going to try them on my Ludwig 8 inch Keystone X oak/maple snare which i think they may sound better on. Good quality wires though.

Teapot: I recently decided to buy a lower-end drumkit on Craigslist just to keep around the practice room so our drummer doesn't have to drag her nice kit over just for rehearsal. New heads and some tuning made the kick and toms sound just fine, but the steel snare (Peace brand) had some pretty bad buzz and a long, wailing ring to it that no amount of tuning or new heads could fix. I finally decided to swap the snare wires. The Puresound makes a big difference. It doesn't cut ALL the buzz, but it makes it far more manageable and some light dampening on the batter head takes care of the rest (I'm a fan of the old leather wallet trick.) I'd imagine the improvement might be even greater on a nicer snare.

The snare wire was easy to install, and the nylon strap with "ruler" lines made it easy to center on the snareside head. The tone is much richer and more complex than my old snare wire, which just sounded thin. The Puresound is also a bit more responsive to tensioning, making it easier to dial in whatever level of smack or trashcan-rattle you want. I paired it with an Aquarian single-ply snareside head and a Remo Emperor X batterhead and left it a little loose for a nice thick thwack...

Mario Contino: Yes, the idea of cotter pins on snares is not really new. However this incorporates them in a very clean and easy way, while providing some of the best snare wires I have ever played.

I have been playing PureSound wires for almost ten years, and they beat out every stock set I have ever come across. The Starclassic wires that came on a SC Bubinga snare drum were complete trash, and made the drum sound just awful. At first, I assumed it was the way I tuned it. After days of retuning, using a Tune-Bot, and trying new heads, I just put on an extra set of these Custom Pros that were sitting in storage. The drum came to life, and with very little adjustment it was crisp and sensitive.

There are still some snare drums that keep their stock wires, because they're "ok". However the two that I use with regularity have Custom Pros. The 5.5x14 Bubinga has this 20 strand, and the 6.5x14 G-Maple has the 24 strand. They're sensitive, crisp, and full at all volumes.

These wires are not expensive, and will give you amazing sound for a very long time. If you loose the clips, you can replace them with 1 3/16" cotter clips.
