cpollockcpollock: So this is #9 size lamp chain. You can get 10ft
of #10 lamp chain at lowes for ten bucks in the hardware section (not the light section). I bought this to add some length to an existing fixture that was apparently even thicker, possibly #8, so while this is thicker than big box store decorative chain, its not by alot, and probably not worth 4x (though admittedly I haven't seen 10 ft of this exact chain cheaper). The strand i got was faded and dark in various spots and not shiny throughout. There were some grey and other dark links. See photos..

JMH: I looked for a while to find a sturdy chain that had the rating and looked stronger than what I found in my local stores. The brushed nickel matched my other fixtures just fine. When trying to open/close a loop with a pliers, I could tell it was strong and I don't have any concerns with it holding up my light. I'd guess it weighs only around 25 lbs. I'd just make sure that you purchase a good quality ceiling cap since that is what attaches to the light fixture in the ceiling.
