J. lewis: I just have received these and when I open them the smell was so intoxicating I just stuck my head right in the bag and inhaled deeply for a couple of minutes!😊Suffice it to say, these bay leaves outshine all the others I have usedll!!! I will let you know when I use them in Other applications - but, right now I am very happy😂😂😂

selina: These are good bay leaves. The package is huge! I took off 1 star because they were packed a year ago, so not as fresh as I would have preferred. It looks to me like they stuffed the leaves into bags without first sorting or cleaning them.
I'm ok with this. At this price, I'm willing to sort them myself and I rinse the leaves just before I use them. Because they were packed so long ago, the leaves are not as fragrant as I expected them to be, but once they begin to simmer in a stew, they give off the characteristic bay smell and taste.
I saw the negative reviews but decided to go ahead and order these anyway. I'm glad I did. I don't think it's fair to expect McCormick quality at this price point. These are closer to Great Value quality but at a much lower cost.
