Joy: So far so good. A few years after the installation of a gas fireplace, we noticed the flames looking a bit weak. A few bits of this sprinkled over the fake logs and we’re back in business. Package contains enough to last a long while. If we don’t over do it and need only apply every couple years, the bag will last a decade at least. Value for money. This might not be the case for everyone, depending on fireplace size and how much you apply. Can’t attest to longevity yet, but even if I have to use it on a yearly basis, it’s still worth it.

Patricia E. Williams: I followed the directions to use an N95 mask and to wear disposable gloves. The product goes a long way with the instructions to use dime-sized pieces. The "embers" that came with my gas log set had disintegrated over the last three years, so this product will replace them. I have not used the gas logs much since using this product except to turn them on for a quick look. The "embers" enhance the illusion of a real log fire. I had no idea what the "embers" were made of until I found this product on Amazon.

Dreaming of Hawaii: I purchased this to replace some old ember wool in my fireplace, for some reason it's didn't compute how much 6oz would be! I used MAYBE 1/4oz to replace the entire ember section of my gas fireplace. There is serious enough left over to give out enough to all my neighbors and family.
It was easy to install, but I'd highly recommend wearing a mask (should be easy as it's a household item now with COVID), and disposable gloves. This stuff is lightweight and becomes airborne quite easily and you certainly don't want it on your skin or in your lungs.
Also when installing put little pieces, like a dime or penny size directly OVER the little holes where the gas flames will come through when on, otherwise they will NOT light up. (I failed to do this the first installation, and then I had to turn off the gas, wait for the fireplace too cool completely before I could fix the wool) I thought the flame would 'travel' more through the wool so I could create embers in my rock area below the gas logs, but it doesn't, the flame has to be in direct contact with the wool to make it appear like embers, so any portion of the wool NOT in direct flame will just remain unlit and grey....
