DRP27410: It is often said you can never have too many clamps. But then where do you store them and how do you afford all the new designs.
These Dual Purpose clamping and pocket hole clamps are great. They are adequate size, well made and serve multiple roles so there are less storage issues and they truly speed up the alignment of pocket holes tremendously.

Richard Poulin: I'm not an experienced woodworker. And I've started using this guide on a project with maple... quite hard. I still managed to drill my holes, but the jig does need some practice. Sometimes, the drill jams. But it's not the tool. The tool is sturdy and well made.

brianb: Was making a Murphy bed cabinet for a rockler kit. had a tough time aligning dowels with the milescraft doweling jig I had bought. Ended up buying this and was able to get all the dowels aligned on the first try. This worked great for the edge dowels. Ended up using the milescraft jig on the faces since this is very awkward to clamp on a larger board. overall, using this and the included bit for edges, and the milescraft and it's included bit for the faces makes doweling very easy and fast. I am an extreme novice when it comes to this stuff. I tried to build this cabinet with the least amount of tools possible.

tigabec: Can you believe selling a drilling jig that don't have the holes aligned properly? Might as well save your money and drill without a tool if the result is unaligned holes!!!

Al: I rarely use dowels for joinery, but I recently had an application where a doweled joint was the best solution. Even though there were some poor reviews, I decided to give the Powertec jig a shot as it was very reasonably priced. It worked very well for my application. You do need to be very careful to ensure the jig is properly positioned in order to get accurate results. And while the clear plastic helps with initial alignment, it is somewhat flexible, so you need to clamp it very securely to the base material in order to ensure that your hole ends up square to the surface. One downside was the supplied drill bit, which performed poorly even in soft pine. While I would not recommend this for someone who uses dowels extensively, I would not hesitate to recommend the Powertec jig for someone who only has an occasional need, .

TC: Mine arrived in a taped up plastic parts bag, with the drill bit (collar attached) jammed into one of the holes and missing the allan key. The collar scratched up the plastic, only cosmetic damage but still irritating. I had also ordered the 3/8" size and it arrived (separately) in proper packaging and with all parts in excellent condition - possibly different seller?

Its going to work, and I have plenty of allan keys including the one that came with the other size but it was a bit disappointing after the good job done on the other size.

Contrary to some other reviews I find the fit of bit to guide is very good, just enough play to ensure no binding of the bit. Test joints work well. Not the best jig I've ever used but by no means the worst.

Lower rating is purely for the bad packaging and the cosmetic damage it caused (suspect it was a returned unit sent out as new)
