josh: So far i have not had any issues. i have used it twice while camping, to power camp lights, and then an a/c fan. seeing as the fan was AC and not DC, it definitly was not the most power efficient, but the 500 ran it all night(roughlt 10 hrs) and only got down to 35%. also used the ac port to inflate to huge matresses, both only used 1% battery life.

as far as in comparison to other models offered, the 500 has the longest recharge rate. if you opt to go solar, it takes well over 9 hrs to recharge from 5%, hoping you have 9 HRs of sunlight. charging while driving it took about 6 hrs from ~25%.

if you buy the next size up, you can save over 3 hrs of charge time, if thats important.

time will tell if the charge time will be an issue, i can forsee it being one, i just havent used it enought to run the juice down. i will be powering a fridge and deisel heater soon, so we'll see. i've been told the 500 can handle the deman if there is ample charge time the next day.

Melissa: I purchased the Jackery 500 to keep my aquarium running during a power outage. We just had a 5 hour outage and the power station worked perfectly. Judging by the wattage being pulled, it would last me 10 hours. Very glad I bought it.

Joe C.: I bought this battery for really just one purpose - to power my CPAP when I went camping. I’d read some good reviews of this battery for that purpose, but it didn’t (initially!) meet my expectations…

I was trying to power my CPAP with the normal AC adapter the CPAP used at home and I couldn’t even get a full night’s sleep out of it. Initially, I was going to return the battery, but then I read the reviews more carefully and discovered one of the reviews mentioned powering the CPAP with a DC adapter that plugged into the cigarette lighter adapter on this battery. It actually took me a while to find an inexpensive adapter like that for my CPAP but once I did, I gave it a try. My initial test let me run the battery for some 5.5 hours on roughly 15% battery usage! After that time, I had two power outages in my home and since I keep the battery charged at all times, I was able to just grab it and use it right away - it let me sleep even though the power was out - that was a really good sign!

TN Experimenter: Update: I purchased a second Jackery Explorer 500 on 11-29-2019 after I discovered what a great unit my 1st Explorer was. Both of the units came in really handy a few days later when a utility pole guy cable anchor failed and the pole fell across the road. The power went out just as I was getting dressed and before breakfast. Both units powered table lights so my wife and I could get dressed and eat breakfast. I also plan to purchase a Jackery Explorer 1000 to run my Maytag Refrigerator/Freezer.

I purchased a Jackery Explorer 500 on 8-31-2019 and it arrived VIA FedEx a few days later. I have been testing and using it.
I am well pleased with my purchase and also purchased a Solar Saga 100 watt Solar Panel a few days later. This combination works really great. My home is located near the edge of my electric service area and it gets several power outages each year. My wife has some health issues and does not have good vision. SWINCAN: The media could not be loaded.  A group of us guys wanted to get the perfect gift for our camping and outdoor enthusiast friend and we landed on this for a multitude of reasons. First off, the build and quality feels very commercial grade and able to withstand some good usage. The design is rugged yet aesthetically looks modern and contemporary but clearly it means business given how many multiple output and charging options it has. The backlit screen is clear and shows all essential information such as charge and discharge rates, battery state of charge and etc. Check out the video for the unit walk around and how it looks up close. Given what it can handle, it's still incredibly portable (very solid weight to power ratio) and easy to move around with no nonsense exterior bits to break off or anything protruding.

One of the main reasons we sprung for this is its ability to be paired with a solar panel to charge it in that way - this is an option that is only available on higher end units.
